DemocRAT Scum Attempt to Steal the House Has Been Deemed Unconstitutional -- Virginia court declares state's redistricting vote was unconstitutional in legal win for Republican

Is this the same state that changed so that their electoral votes go to the 'popular' vote of the USA instead of how their people voted?

Talk about ripping out 'Democracy'.

And also after banning semi automatic rifles and grandfathering in original owners, now made them all illegal ex post facto turning law abiding citizens into felons...

Democracy...

Virginia: Sic Semper Tyrannis

haha, right.

Can I educate you a bit, Iggo?

First of all, no such change has happened yet. Virginia has joined an interstate compact, which pledges that the state's electoral votes will go to the overall popular vote winner. That's a response to the fact that 2/3 of Americans disapprove of the Electoral College and would rather that the President was elected by overall popular vote.

This means that the importance of a vote for President doesn't vary from state to state. And why should it? It's a FEDERAL election! And if you want to talk about drmocracy--this compact was passed by Virginia's voters, in a democratic initiative. It's what they want.

Note that as Virginia is a blue state, this compact means that Republican votes will count. It also means that Democrat votes in red states will count. As it is now, anyone voting for a Democrat Presidential candidate in, say, Indians, or a Republican in Oregon or California, is wasting their time.

As far as the new gun law is concerned, owners of the newly illegal weapons have a grace period to turn them in. They aren't immediately subject to penalties. But really...who the fuck needs a semi-suyomstic weapon? Gonna shoot up a herd of deer? Or a shopping mall?

Yeah, why do you need to travel more than 15 minutes from your house (walking of course).  You might commit a crime or say something unapproved!  It's for YOUR safety of course!

No disgusting gas or rare earth resource hogging electric car for you and stay in your geo-fence or you'll be fined carbon credits and your daily gruel will be reduced, citizen!

Sorry, I can't equate noble gun ownership and the ability to kill a hundred people in a few seconds with the civil rights I do care about. Nor can I equate safety practices that keep that stuff out of people's hands with fascistic restrictions on our precious freedumbs.

Funny how proponents of "let everybody be free to do whatever the fuck they want" don't realize how unfree we would be in such a society.

Slippery slope, you start limiting rights and next thing it's government for the people and not government of the people.  Don't be obtuse.

You of course realize the inherent flaw in any slippery slope argument?

We don't have unlimited rights to do anything we want.

I would encourage to go back and read the Second Amendment, especially the first clause of the sentence.  You seem to worship this amendment, have you even read it?

You mean the preferatory clause?

It isn't saying that the right is only for militias.

Even if it did, you may want to familiarize yourself with the definition of militia.

During the framing of the Constitution pretty much every state had a statutory definition of militia that included every able-bodied male 17 and over.  The first federal statutes basically defined militia as any male citizen or individual who has declared an intention to become a citizen within the U.S. Early definitions restrict militia to men but the 14th amendment would have extended this to women

This is a common misinterpretation of the Second Amendment. The clause that begins the first sentence is a restrictive clause, albeit not in the form one usually sees it.

Gun lovers have, for decades, interpreted the Amendment to mean blanket permission, carte blanche, for anybody and everybody to own AND BRANDISH big guns, small guns, rocket launchers, nuclear weapons, etc. That's neither the intention nor the language of the Amendment.
