David, are you weaseling away from your claim that Trump won the 2020 election?

You've never taken a class in logic. One of the first things you learn is: A happens, then B happens. That does NOT mean that A caused B. So your "guess" is illogical. Adding one percent to domestic oil production wouldn't have caused gas prices to drop by more than a fraction of one percent.
Why is that? Because the price of gas is determined by many more factors than the price of crude oil. Those other factors wouldn't have been changed by the release of oil from the reserve.
You claim to understand this stuff, but your ignorance is kind of breathtaking.
I realize that you're old, and you're a conservative. Therefore, your mind is fuzzy regarding change, and you hate it. You talk as if the transition away from fossil fuels can, or is supposed to, happen overnight. Then you argue that if we can't accomplish it tomorrow, we shouldn't do it at all. This is the kind of head-in-the-sand thinking that has gotten us in such deep trouble.
There is no liberal (not "Liberal") stance against battery production. That's only in your head.
My comprehension of large numbers is just fine. It's you that seems confused. A 1% increase in the supply of a raw material (which is only about 40% of the cost of manufacture/refinement) results in a 10% decrease in the market price of the finished product?? Boiler, buddy...that doesn't even make sense.
I have taken several logics classes.
Kevin, please provide one time, just one, that I've ever said that we will not or should not transition from oil. Logic tells me to never trust one who continues to lie.
One more thing. You're lack understanding of commodity pricing is obvious to those who know the business.
US oil production to achieve record output in 2023 and 2024
Remember this time last year when our resident conservatives told us the oil drillers couldnt produce more oil becasue of Joe Biden and "flaring" and "no pipeline"? Its fun to see how data refutes bullshit, isn't it?

What month and year are we currently living in? How can you explain what this chart depicts for 2023 and 2024? And what does this have to do with the esculation of current gasoline prices? This "chart" is, according to your source, is an "estimation" for 2023 and 2024 - the "estimation" being a detail you conveniently left out. This is just another example of the half truths you spew and lie about.

If you had paid attention in those classes, you would know that correlation does not equal causation. But many, many of your posts show ignorance of that very basic concept.
Your logic--whatever there is in your brain--is severely distorted by your adopted role as a cheerleader for the fossil fuel industry. And the idiot shit you've spouted to try to fulfill that role is laughable.
Take your recent obsession with the SPR. The oil companies could have produced the same effect by increasing production by 1%. They could have done that easily--but they didn't. Why? They like those yummy, yummy sky-high prices.
Gasoline has been expensive because the fossil fuel companies want it that way. It's not a matter of supply. There are 4,000 idle wells in the US alone. It's not a fair or honest market, no matter how much you wave your pom-poms.
And I'm certain you're lying about your commodities "expertise." If you actually knew anything, you could explain to us how a 1% increase in supply can lead to a 10% (or more) drop in price.

"Escalation," dummy. Learn to spell. Someone with sharply limited language skills is unconvincing as an "expert" on anything.
The chart doesn't depict gasoline prices. No one said it does. What PJ is doing is refuting and schooling you conservitards who blame high gas prices on a lack of supply (caused by the eeeevil Biden administration).
The chart doesn't label the 2023-2024 portion an "estimation" because anyone who isn't as dumb as a box of rocks can see that it's a projection. You are, apparently, as dumb as said rock box.
