Iran had no particular reason to bow down to the demands of Vance's master, while Vance hadn't been given the authority to accept any of theirs. He could only be a surrogate bully, and the Iranians were having none of it.

So what next, boys and girls? The Strait remains closed and we have no way to open it. They want security guarantees and compensation for the damage Trump has done to them. They'll never get either. Trump wants their unconditional surrender and Tehran to be renamed "Trump City." He'll get neither. So what now? More boomity booms? Kill a few thousand, or a few hundred thousand, Iranian civilians? Send an army in there and get slaughtered?
