Getting what they voted for; farm bankruptcies up 46%

Okay, you shamed me into looking it up.  So 2024 Biden was in office and it was a new record for failing farms. Then Trump is elected, and there are even more failing farms in 2025, so yes he did not stop the bleeding in his first few months in office.  But what I don;t understand was why everyone was so scared that Joe Biden would lose the election and go out of bussiness before Trump even got in office.  I think the trend is showing why farmers had to vote for Trump to save the farms.  And that is what we were hearing before the election

You are forgetting farmers got a large taxpayer bailout during Trump's first term to help cover their losses from his tarrifs.

Second you are trying to excuse the increase in farm bankruptcies as Trump being in the first few months. It's Trump's tarrifs and immigration polices that caused the problems during the first few months of his second term. If you don't have labor to harvest or plant your crops you are SOL.

Now in addition they are dealing with a Trump's war which has made fertilizer much more expensive and scarce.  This will create a real problem for consumers when it is time to harvest those crops. Collectively farmers are planting smaller crops this year due to the increased costs. Soon we will be dealing with a food shortage.

Your analysis of the trend, they were high when Biden was in office is wrong mainly because it is incomplete.  Farm Bankruptcies shot up during Trump's first term and then they went down during Biden's term and now they started rising again. The bottom line is in Both of Trump's terms Farm bankruptcies are higher than they were under Biden and the trend is they are still increasing.

How do you take from that Biden created the problem when the numbers say otherwise?

So Trump didn't save the farms he screwed the farmers in both of his terms.  How do you justify farmers voting for a guy that screwed them in his first term to such a degree they had to be bailed out by the taxpayers?

You can't.

Your so far up Trump's ass you can't even accept absolute provable facts. Do you think the Farm bureau is part of a liberal conspiracy to lie to farmers so Trump looks bad?

Here are the numbers:

2016 - 442 - Obama

2017 - 501 - Trump

2018 - 498 - Trump

2019 - 599 - Trump Peak

2020 - 552 - Trump

2021 - 276 - Biden

2022 - 169 - Biden

2023 - 139 - Biden

2024 - 216 - Biden

2025 - 315 - Trump

Looking at that record, if you are a farmer, how do justify voting for Trump.  Farmers did very well under Biden.

They, like the rest of the "base," have short memories and were fooled by the MAGA rhetoric about so-called "Bidenflation." They forgot how Trump had strangled the farm industry during his first term--to the extent that he had to bail them out. But because it wasn't over their event horizon, they remembered th WORLDWIDE economic slowdown from covid and blamed Biden for it (???). So when MAGA screamed and pointed at THAT TERRIBLE 9% INFLATION UNDER BIDEN, Elmer and Goober bought it. (And a couple of our dumber MAGAs here still bleat it.)

The base was deluded into thinking Trump would be better for them than Harris, but I would expect you to be made of smarter stuff.

1.9m farms; 315 bankruptcies for a 0.0016% bankruptcy rate.

Much ado about nothing

They are very small numbers, and the story used percentages to sensationalize it.  But the real numbers that Mark brought up are interesting.  It was a fact that farmers hated Biden and Kamala with a passion.  But there were more failures under Trump.  I also read about alot of new start up farms during the Biden years that were in our area that were pretty cool.  One was a high school kid that started growing shrimp in livetock tanks and selling them at market..  Another was a black family from New York that started a nonprofit farm that ran from donations and grants that was trying to provide educational oportunites for minorites.  Lots of interesting start ups.  But maybe there was a lot of tax payer money going out the door to fund some of these that maybe were not sustainable.  Not everyone makes it

Tom, if you die in a plane crash, that would be OK, because so few people do every year, right? That would be "nothing," right?

Help me understand Tom-logic.

Farmers hated Harris because of her race and gender. Most of them are MAGA any many live in red states where non-white people don't dare go out at night and the legislatures are considering removing women's right to vote (it distracts them from making babies).

I don't see much hatred for Turdiffs making every farmer's business less profitable. Just because Bibi tickled his balls and called him Noble Leader. For every farmer that's gone bankrupt, there are thousands who have been knocked down to barely surviving. Many farmers have said that if 2027 is like 2026, they'll go under.
