HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY TO ALL!

Yep. That's what the President of the United States tweeted out earlier today. As in, "Yay Crucifixion!" He has no clue.

Trump supporters must be so proud.

It's pretty much like wearing a clown suit to a funeral.

You know, his fitness for office is debated back and forth, but one thing that can't be argued is his stupidity. It's appalling that so many Americans gave him a pass on that and voted for him anyway. And of course, we've had three years of excuse-making from Trumpers.

Stupidity kills.

I had to check to see if he really Tweeted that. He did!

Sometimes I've thought that Trump had others writing his Tweets. I've wondered if they purposely included his misspellings, bad grammar, and meager vocabulary in order to make his writing look authentic. These Tweets, ignorant, emotionally disturbed, hate-mongering, and mendacious as they were, seemed designed to appeal to his base who likes that sort of thing.

But, "Happy Good Friday!" takes the cake. For me, it proves that Trump actually writes them himself. No Twitter ghost writers would have written that. Even among his base, this one won't go down well. So now we know.

Well, it is called Good Friday by Christians in reference to Jesus' crucifixion and ascension into Heaven.  Mr. Trump is not the first to utter "Happy Good Friday."   I always thought it strange myself.  Look it up and you will find all sorts of explanations, including ancient translations leading to the modern "Good" in Good Friday.  Wall Street is closed for the "holiday."  That's a good thing.

A question:  Why do people spend time searching for offensive Tweets and Twitters?

"...not the first to utter 'Happy Good Friday.'"

Wow, you have such high standards for the President of the United States.

Merry Yom Kippur!

You are confusing and conflating Good Friday and Easter.

Good Friday is a day of mourning, because it marks the day of Jesus's crucifixion exclusively, not his ascension into heaven. His ascension into Heaven came later marked by a separate holiday we call Easter.  On days of mourning, one doesn't wish others a happy day of mourning.

Since Easter is the day that celebrates Jesus's ascension into Heaven, one wishes others a Happy Easter, because Easter is a celebration, not a day of mourning.

His offensive tweets are ubiquitous. One does not search for them. You can't avoid them.

Also, what a U.S. President says cannot be ignored, even if it is sociopathic babble, as it affects everyone and everything, not just in the U.S. but in the world.

The Christian brand wouldn't sell as well if they called their holy days something like "Really Sucky Friday." Holy days and feast days were an important part of the Church's marketing strategy in the early days. It was a LOT easier to convert the pagans if rather than taking away their winter solstice holiday, you re-branded it, attached a new myth to it, and called it "Christmas." Similarly, the Easter myth was a way to re-brand pagan spring celebrations. While the Christians converted a lot of people to death, they preferred to sell voluntary subscriptions, as it's easier to clean up after an Easter party than a massacre.

Another question:.why do people spend so much time defending Trump?

It's appalling and sad that while Trump is a liar, thief, cheat, fraud, rapist, criminal, and traitor, his salient, overarching feature is that he's really...

fucking...

stupid.

Merry Yom Kippur!

I have no idea what you mean.

I doubt that it is customary to wish one a "Merry" Yom Kippur, but then I'm not Jewish and do not know as much as I should about that observance, other than it being a time of repentence.  And like "happy Good Friday", some could view either as mocking of those somber observances.  Me, I'd be forgiving of anyone making such a blunder.

I have not seen what the POTUS actually said regarding Good Friday (and please don't bother to post a link).  I suspect that religion-speak isn't one of his strong suits.  He ought to study on it, and/or get his writers to help him with such.  But that's JMHO and not worth much.

For the record, this year April 10th is:

__ Good Friday for Christians

__ Day of Silence for  LGBTQ  Youth

__ National Hug Your Dog Day

__ National Siblings Day

DonDiego is not a Christian (although he doesn't discriminate against Christians)

DonDiego is not an LGBTQ of any age (although he doesn't discrimnate against LGBTQs)

DonDiego does not own a dog (although he enjoys the dogs with which he comes into contact)

DonDiego's sole sibling is dead (although he and DonDiego got along well before his demise)

DonDiego recommends everyone just enjoy the day !
