Is this how herd immunity is supposed to work?

Now we know what Trump was talking about when he said herd mentality. Trump is the Judas goat of the Republican party.

It would if there were an effective vaccine and the majority had taken it and developed immunity.  That's how vaccines work, to make most people (the herd) immune. 

Too bad it isn't purple or green so we could see it chasing us, hopping from one person to the next.  Even yellow fever causes jaundice, which is why it is called yellow fever.  A clue of sorts.  But no clue for Covid-19.  People become complacent because it doesn't have a face and isn't carried by mosquitoes or rabid animals.  We just can't believe that whomever felt fine yesterday (like our own family members) won't be a host tomorrow.

If only we had leadership that encouraged wearing masks instead of making masks a political issue. If only we had leadership that weighed scientific evidence before demanding things open. If only we had leadership that didn't tout miracle cures like a perpetual late-night infomercial.  If only we had leadership that didn't spread conspiracy theories about the virus.

People understand the concept of catching something you can't see. What a lot of them lack is the ability to sort through misinformation/propaganda put out by the US government at the behest of an immoral President.  

The President is to blame for where we find ourselves in comparison to other countries. We are dead last by most metrics among first world countries. We still have no nationwide tracking system and test results for most people take at least 48 hours assuming they even meet the criteria to be tested. 

The question was how does herd immunity work and why didn't it work on those listed.  BECAUSE WE HAVE NO VACCINE!!!!!!  Nothing to make us immune.  Masks go a long way to prevent the spread, but we have to develop immunity in a large part of our population, preferably all but large part would go a long way.  So far it hasn't been seen that having the virus results in sustained immunity.   I hope it will, but nothing so far that I've seen or read of.

There are people right now saying no way in hell will they take a vaccine even after proven safe and effective.  Is that stupid or what????????

Me, I'll be first in line if I can get there.  I'd be in a trial if somebody asked me.

One major problem we're going to have is that now that Trump has made clear that the sole criterion for a vaccine is not that it's safe or effective, but rather, whether it's "ready" by Election Day, many people won't trust whatever is eventually offered. They might think it's a dangerous rush job, and refuse to take it.

And of course, add to that all the Bible-thumping yahoos and such who think that vaccines are the work of the devil and are never going to get immunized no matter what.

The only "major problem" is people like you who post idiotic prattle concerning the development of a life saving vaccine - all the while done just to serve your hatred for the President. I will enjoy your liberal screaming after the re-election of President Trump -
