Ho ho ho *cough cough* *choke* *thud*

Well, we saw over Thanksgiving that Americans don't have the discipline to heed health warnings and deny themselves a %^%$@#$ turkey dinner. So another twenty thousand or so people die! What of it? At least we all got our pumpkin pie and got to share anecdotes with crazy Uncle Fred, the QAnon supporter!!!!

This tells me that at least half the nation is going to similarly ignore the recommendations and travel to Gramma's house or Mom and Dad's place and have the usual, traditional Xmas celebration. And more people will die!

This blows my mind. I could see everyone throwing up their hands and saying "we'll risk it, the hell with it" if there wasn't any hope on the horizon---but we know there will be vaccines available in a few months!

Shouldn't everyone's strategy be, therefore, to hunker down and wait, now more than ever???

Someone please explain to me why people are doing the exact opposite! Is it still just stupid politicized no-masking and Trump-worship? Ignore the coronavirus, it'll magically disappear?

Sunday I'm off to Mexico!

Have you considered staying there?

Yes, I'll be staying there for a week!

Not long enough.

Renting a villa which is two floors (2nd and 3rd floors).  Three balconies, rooftop patio, small plunge pool on the 3rd floor balcony which is off the bedroom.

I'm doing my part to keep people working.  These people are happily no longer starving.

Can't wait.

On a side note, buying pesos has become a hassle over the years due to the drug trade and the subsequent max ATM withdraweIs and max cash exchange at banks.  For the first time, I did a money transfer to a Remitly location on the island.  This way I pick up all the pesos I'll need for the week in one stop, plus it'll save me about $70 vs using the ATM numberous times.  My bank, PNC, charges a 3% fee when getting pesos.

Send them a couple thousand Americano dollars and stay home. They'll be able to avoid starving without paying the price of your infecting them and some of them dying.

As you imply that you're taking this trip not to get your jollies, but rather, as a noble humanitarian gesture, you might wish to distribute your gringo wealth without endangering the Mexican citizenry. I'm sure that the International Red Cross, for example, could show you how to donate the money that you're planning to blow on airfare+hotel to a worthy cause that would help those people.

And you intend to wear a mask all the time you're down there and will be quarantining for 14 days when you return...right?
