Homeowner shoots intruder dead, reportedly won't face charges. Neighbor says homeowner 'having a gun was a good thing.'

This is why the 2nd amendment matters - https://www.theblaze.com/news/homeowner-shoots-intruder-dead-reportedly-wont-face-charges-neighbor-says-homeowner-having-a-gun-was-a-good-thing?fbclid=IwAR1ijJ5KQXVnfWS465MLwkUBHtKCpMG5Yeoe7y5gOmRTn8KEhE-TPiee5vc

Yeah, how wonderful when an ordinary citizen gets to be judge, jury, and executioner--and hands out the death penalty for trespassing.

That is terrible!  How dare they do that when someone  trespasses INTO their house.

As opposed to calling the police. Hell, we don't need cops at all if we just give everyone guns and ammo, do we? We don't need the courts, either! Death penalty for every offense! None of that TRIAL nonsense!

You probably would sing a different tune if some goober blew away your son as he "trespassed" on the guy's lawn trying to get his ball back. Or your daughter as she tried to deliver a package.

I don't really want to argue this point, though. Gun love is irrational, and those infected with it are immune to reason. I also don't want to argue with anyone who thinks ordinary citizens are entitled to mete out the death penalty.

The naysayers here would be singing a different tune if it was their home being broken into...

Into a house and on a lawn are quite different things Kevin.  Even you may acknowledge that.

And the cops can be there just that quickly once someone is in your house, right?

Well, you don't WANT the cops to show up that quickly, if you're going to fulfill your gun love fantasy of killing someone, right? And you have a perfect "justification"!

I don't own a gun, but even if I did, I wouldn't do the macho thing and try to git th' drop on th' varmint. I'd go upstairs, or out in the back yard, and call the police. And in the unlikely event I did have a gun and did decide to confront the intruder, I wouldn't simply gun him down, unless he threatened me in some way...and even then, I'd try to wound, not kill him...and only as a last resort.

What I object to is the article and Millerscum's gleeful tone. Someone getting gunned down isn't a good thing, even if he IS a foul miscreant. Gun lovers will just use the story to feed their masturbatory fantasies, and sooner or later, the UPS guy will get his head blown off.

Jerry - you have pointed out the 2 weakest idiotic points in Lewis's inane response

Fairly common sense points at that.

I knew the point I was making would escape you. (Millerscum was a given.)

If people are allowed to mete out the death penalty for trespassing, then they could do so to anyone on their lawn, front porch, back yard, etc.

I had a friend who was a meter reader for a year. She hated the job, but stuck with it for a while because it paid well. She eventually got tired of people siccing dogs on her and on four different occasions, pulling guns on her. She was always in uniform.

I realize that my moral compass is aligned differently than yours and, of course, Millerscum's. I don't like killing.
