I just got back from getting my first COVID test

I slept in today as I didn't have work. I noticed I had a little sinus drainage while I slept.  I didn't think it was anything other than winter allergies. I went to lunch this afternoon and I had quite the shock when I stuck the food in my mouth and couldn't taste anything. I am grounded for the next 2-3 days while I wait for test results.  Other than the no taste thing, my symptoms are very slight at this point.

BTW: I can't believe we are still at the point where test results take 2-3 business days.

If you chose to get the antigen test, those give a faster result.  For the PCR test (considered the most accurate), they will take 3 days for sure.  Not due to anyone being slow, just that it takes that much time to develop.

I took the antigen test 3 times.  One prior to travel, two after travel.  All came back negative.  The first one came back that evening as promised.  The next two, results didn't come for two days.  I read this is due to so many more going for the test, which is a good thing but has created some delays (in some places...maybe not everywhere).

Your loss of taste is alarming in terms of you probably being positive for covid.  Sure hope you have a light case, if at all.  So sorry.

Thank You. I am not sure how worried I shout be at this point.  There is no testing site in the county I live in so I had to go to the next one over which has three. You had to pay out of pocket at two of them and it would have taken me longer to get in so I booked the free community test site which got me in the same day. I wasn't given the choice as to which type of test. I was offered an appointment for a PCR test this evening.

The most important thing you can do now is rewind the past 4-5 days in your head and see if you can remember everyone you came in contact with. If (and it's certainly "if" at this point) you are infected, you need to sound the alarm so others can get tested and self-isolate.

The good news is, you don't feel too crappy, so if you are infected, maybe you have a mild case. Let us know what you find out.

I ate the Green Chili Fire Chicken at Spicy City for lunch and I could taste it just fine. Maybe Szechuan food is the poor man's Covid test? More research is needed.

So was your first test positive?  I was told if mine was positive I would be called by a health care person (probably for contact info).  Mine were negative and I didn't get a call.  If I were you I'd take the offer for the PCR test.  It seems those smell and taste symptoms are the most frequent of the ones accompanying a true covid infection, the others (like your sinus drainage) not so much unless you have significant (and new) shortness of breath.

Don't worry.  Biden will fix it next week.

Is he going to fire Eric Holcomb?  The last I heard he was still in charge of Indiana and specifically the Indiana Department of Health. I still haven't gotten my test results.  Given they are phrasing it in terms of business days I may be looking at a week-long wait.  I am happy to report I feel much better today.

He very well might--but you won't acknowledge it. You'll still be cheering for the bigly orange genius and his masterful Operation Whoops, I Peed or whatever he calls it.

Biden has an actual plan. He intends to listen to the advice of experts. That's something Trump has never had the inclination--or the ability--to do.

Cleaning all the Trump out of federal offices will take some time, and it's likely that many Trump goons will wind up hanging around out of sheer inertia.

I hope your test is negative.
