Is there still a pandemic?

If there is, the end result of all these protests will be a lot more sickness and death in minority communities who are most susceptible to Covid 19.  I guess the black lives matter protests matter more than actual black lives.  Quite the irony.

If there isn't still a pandemic, where did it go?  Maybe we need to move to virtual protests for the health of the nation in general and minority communities in particular.

Wow, just when you thought Charles couldn't be any dimmer.

There is little evidence of much outdoor transmission of Covid-19. So the demonstrations won't matter much. On the other hand, jailing peaceful protesters in, you know, indoor jails will probably spread the virus. One more reason to jail criminal cops who assault peaceful protesters and the media.

But don't worry. Bunker Bitch will be safe in his bunker.

Oh.  So now it's ok to ignore CDC guidlines.  Because Mister Picture is the new Fauci.  How many blacks have to die because you think you don't need to follow CDC guidelines?  Is it Ok to open up baseball stadiums now?  Those are outdoors, right?

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/large-events/mass-gatherings-ready-for-covid-19.html

At a minimal-to-moderate level of community transmission, it is recommended to:

Cancel community-wide mass gatherings (for example, >250 people; the cutoff threshold is at the discretion of community leadership based on the current circumstances the community is facing and the nature of the event) or move to smaller groupings.

Cancel gatherings of more than 10 people for organizations that serve higher-risk populations

Good recommendations out of an abundance of caution. But actually jailing peaceful protesters, often by criminal cops, is what will spread the virus.

Covid-19 and Crowds

Well, . . . poor old DonDiego won't be attending any protest demonstrations.

Nonetheless, he won't discourage others from participating, . . . y'know - based on free speech rights and things like that.

Yeah, it probably wouldn't be the first time that Don smiled when someone said, "I can't breathe."

Mister Picture writes: " . . . it probably wouldn't be the first time that Don smiled when someone said, 'I can't breathe' . "

Mister Picture's speculation is wrong. This is not an uncommon event on the internets, but poor old DonDiego wanted to correct the error promptly because it implies an inaccurate judgement of poor old DonDiego.  Poor old DonDiego has never smiled when someone said "I can't breathe", . . . not even once.

Moreover, it seems to poor old DonDiego that Mister Picture is expressing unjustified animosity towards poor old DonDiego.  Unjustified animosity is also not uncommon on the internets, . . . but animosity does reduce the quality of on-line debate.

Yeah, we need someone to gather up all the crumbs...

The protestors clearly thought that whatever risk they would incur from gathering in large numbers, expressing their grievances in public was worth it. Anyone who didn't want to be exposed was free to stay home.

Charles' utterly stupid, stupid, stupid (and racist!) statement belittles and demeans the Black community. They decided, collectively, that joining in protest was worth the risk. There was no contradiction there, as Chuckles implies.

DonDiego might wonder--as do I--whether if cops killed half a dozen unarmed white people in the space of a few weeks, he might join in such protests despite the danger.

I don't judge the protestors because I don't live in their world and don't know what it's like. I'm sure that for them, their frustration and anger is more real than it is for me, as an abstraction.
