Kansas votes pro-choice.

Then you oppose almost all Congressional Republicans.

Every Republican running for Congress is going to be asked "will you support a national law to outlaw abortion." If they answer "no" they will alienate the evangelicals. If they answer "yes" they will alienate most of the rest of us.

I'm sure that most GOPers in competitive districts will go cowardly and evade the question.

Most GOP politicians will rightly say this this issue is to handled at the state level.  I would definitly opposes a national law outlawing abortion.

Here is a key quote from Kevin's article.

“It’s one thing that we are debating within the conference,” Iowa Republican Sen. Joni Ernst said of a nationwide abortion bill. “But at the same time, most of us do believe that the Dobbs decision was the right decision, and it’s returning that authority to our state and local governments. That’s our system of federalism.”

There should be no federal law on this issue, as I've said all along.

Why not decide the second amendment at the state level? Why not decide if corporations are really people at the state level?

Uhhh, sorry, states should NOT be allowed to decide whether or not people have fundamental freedoms. For instance, Texas can't pass any laws abridging freedom of speech.

The right to privacy is guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment and the states CANNOT override it. The various abortion bans will survive only in the most backward red states. And who wants to go there anyway?

Despite what stupid Tommie-poo may have "said all along," there IS established federal law on this issue: the Constitution. Even the Supreme Court can't destroy the fundamental rights of Americans.

I support the Kansas vote, regardless of the outcome.  The Constitution mandates this be left to the states, and Kansas voted.

Kansas shouldn't be ABLE to vote on this issue, any more than they can vote on whether or not to outlaw free speech.

And for those who say that states should be able to decide whether constitutional amendments apply to them or not, I say: Hmm, then, why does the gun love gang say they can't, in regard to the Second Amendment?

Kevin has proven many times, which is the Liberal way, that if his views differ from the Constitution that the Constitution should be ignored.

I do not believe that abortion should be legal, but I support the Constitution and the rule of law.  Kansas has voted, and so be it.  That is the law of the land in Kansas and I support their right to make that decision.

Is the biology of a mother or embryo different in Kansas vs Texas?

If not then "states rights" is just another way of saying the church should be able to override science if enough people in the state want it to.    And thats the real issue.   Republicans believe facts have different values based upon what state you're in....and what Church has the most influence in it.

And the Federalist Society picked Supterme Court agrees.   OK, fine.   Just do me a favor and quit preaching to me how Republicans favor small government and libertarian freedoms.   Cause they're as full of shit about that as they are about family values, balanced budgets, and cutting spending.

Which isn't a response to what I wrote.

I predict that almost zero Republican candidates in competitive districts will be courageous enough to answer either "yes" or "no" as to whether they would support a national law outlawing abortion.

Hey, let's keep count here! As far as I know, the total is zero so far. So keep me updated!

If you "support the Constitution," then you support its Amendments as well. And if you support its Amendments, that includes the Fourteenth Amendment, which guarantees the right to privacy. This includes pregnancy and control over what happens to one's own body.

Kansas does NOT have the right to override the Fourteenth Amendment or any other part of the Constitution. Period. It's not a liberal or conservative concept, despite your childish assholery. It's fundamental to the way our country operates.

Yet, you disagree with it. And you call yourself an American!

But boy, I hope that question will be asked, over and over and over, of every backward-thinking misogynist RepubliQ asshole running for office. Don't let them weasel. Do they want Handmaid's Tale or not? State abortion police? Girls being forced to bear their rapists' children?
