Murder is not a federal crime unless you kill a federal agent...or it somehow goes beyond state jurisdiction. So lets just say "obvious bullshit" in regards to your statement. What was the matter with the Remain in Mexico Program. With only 20% of asylum requests granted it makes no sense to allow people loose in the country that have little chance of asylum being granted.
