Looks like the orange liar's plan to have a special master backfired.

I disagree..I think he is, despite your superficial / ostensible rundown of evidence in the above post. I'm not totally discounting those points, necessarily; but I think you assign too much future power and influence to Trump and his base for 2024. His subsequent two year course is fraught with concertine wire to navigate in various forms. Course, I could be overlooking something or factually underestimating the response of his followers. We'll see.

Today's late afternoon Twitter/ Elon news might help his cause a bit though. We'll see about that too, eventually.

I thought that Trump was a fad and he would go out of fashion. However, I was wrong. There is a massive group of idiots and scumbags out there to whom his behavior has a lasting appeal. A few little ol' criminal indictments won't affect that at all.

Our society has rapists, pedophiles, thieves, murderers, and Trumpers. We can't get rid of any of them without making fundamental changes. So the MAGA morons are still going to be around. Yeah, the Orange Asshole will have some legal problems. But he has loyal lackeys and an army of saps whom he can soak for money at the drop of a hat.

Charles, it turns out Elon's big reveal wasn't even as big as Gerlado's reveal of Al Capone's vault. At least Geraldo found some empty beer bottles.

Yeah,well...we'll see how small Elon's info reveal is..eventually. It might be a rung or two above our basic political fodderfest news; too early to tell.

So, ultimately, you believe he could actually win a second term in '24 despite all the cockleburrs he's facing. When I suggest he's 'done'..that's what I'm addressing; I don't think he can win under the current and foreseeable climate ( who knows, I could be deluded about that). That opinion might be based on my own self-interest, admittedly. OTOH, your group has opposing self-interests at stake as well...your disdain / fear of a second Trump victory really fills up your bitch buckets.

You liberal-leaning members here need to find an alternate R dead horse to beat on, imo. There'll be a few individual alternates/ the entire candidacy group to choose from soon..*l*.

LOL!!!!!   ''a second tRump victory...''

I'd be more than happy to ignore the Orange Pusbag if he went away for good or, alternatively, all his loyal followers blew their brains out (just as good). But he ain't going away, not as far as I can tell. Will he secure the 2024 nomination? Probably not. Will he fuck up his own party and attract far more air time than he deserves? Definitely. I for one would like to listen to ten minutes of TV news without hearing that cocksucker's name mentioned even once. Maybe in 2032? Anyway, he's far from a "dead horse." Lame horse, perhaps.

And one major factor you need to understand--whoever the RepubliQ prop up there in 2024 may not be named Trump, but he'll be a Trump clone. Whoever it is will run on a platform of race-baiting, fearmongering, and conspiracy theories. There will also be some more corporate gifting talk, along with the now-indispensible stop all social welfare and "niggers can't vote" shticks. Oh, and let's not forget the trillions o'Messkins a'floodin' 'cross da border and "grooming" stuff. Maybe a little CRT.

The above will be part of the toxic cocktail of choice, and the nominee--DeSantis or anyone else--will be whoever is most willing to shamelessly lie while pushing all the "base"'s hot buttons and throwing them all the red meat they can gobble up. Policy positions? Competence? Character? When have RepubliQ voters given a crap about those things? Not recently!

That's funny? Why? You think he's going to jail and a second Executive term is out of the question? Or..? *l*

He won a first term in '16, as I recall; The inference was if he ran and won in '24..that would be a 'second Trump victory', and I don't think your side would look forward to that in a positive way. We might have a different appreciation for math application. That's gotta be it. *l*

He *won once with help. Since then he's been a loser. Bigly.

Anything else I can help you recall?

So, now you think it is inevitable that some unknown Trump clone will be nominated? Whom is going to vote for such a toxic candidate, assuming his character, competence, or sock color meets your standards? Any candidate that has an "R" descriptor affiliation beside his / her name won't be able to meet your personal standards..let's just be honest about that. Such candidates will have  deeply embedded bullseye targets on their asses and foreheads. That'll be your choice of actionable response, won't it? Your prerogative.

No, probably not "unknown," although that's certainly a possibility. The existing, recognized front-runners (DeSantis, Abbott, Hitler?) are indisputably Trump clones/mutants/descendants. They use the EXACT same tactics, branding, and messaging that Trump deployed successfully in 2016 and not-so-much in 2020.

And while you may believe my thinking is monolithic, you're wrong. There are dozens of Republicans (even now!) whom I would vote for--people who, while I may not believe in their ideology, are nonetheless people of character, honesty, and competence. And NONE of them have a sparrowfart's chance of being nominated for ANYTHING by the RepubliQ. Look at what happened to the apostates who dared to say that Trump isn't a god. (And BTW, there are quite a few Democrats I wouldn't vote for.)

Maybe you don't want to acknowledge that the scum who voted for Trump are still out there. But the fact remains that what appealed to them then (somehow) will still appeal to them in 2024, and all a candidate has to do to have at least a fighting chance is to don his Trump ape-suit and grunt to the base. Granted, that worked horribly in 2022. But there were several issues that torched RepubliTrump candidacies in 2022, and I'm sure the RepubliQ will have something juicy to blame Democrats for in 2024. Maybe a rash of earthquakes or a war in Sri Lanka.

The potential for evil demagougery is always there when enough of the electorate is gullible and stupid, and the 75 million certainly meet that criterion. A few of them got picked off by covid, but the rest are still infesting this land. Any ambitious R will recognize that.

Unless, of course, you think some Republican will run on a platform of integrity, ethics, compromise, compassion, and common decency. I'll lay long odds against that and in favor of the word "grooming" being mentioned 653,722 times and Hunter Biden's mystical radioactive laptop being deemed the most important issue of our times.
