More proof that Republicans want a fascist authortian Goverment so they can force everyone else to follow their non-mainstream beliefs.

When did one's "faith" become relegated as being a "non-mainstreem belief"?
The Christian church has a long and storied history of doing exactly that. They have always been right behind the conquerors, converting the natives to death and enslaving those who survived.
Freedom of religion means freedom FROM religion. Funny how true-blue American conservatives don't fathom that.

Since the proportion of people who believe and practice evangelical Christianity became a minority.
But that doesn't really matter. Even if 99% of the citizenry practiced Christianity or some other religion, they still wouldn't have the right to force their beliefs on anyone else or make them follow their rules. That may change with the impending RepubliQ fascist takeover, but until they tear up the Bill of Rights, it's still the law of the land.

They can't get this done, unless they toss out (via amendment) all the constitutional protections for religious liberty ( which includes protection for agnostics, atheists, and even cat worshippers). Lord, help us.

Quite a daunting task, that..given said swamp's depth and expanse.

It may be daunting, but the other option will be the demise of America.

What a fucking moron.
Charles, Pence concisely summed up the conservative point of view. They are going to redifine the first amendment to exclude freedom from religion. The current supreme court majority is on board. Sure they won't be able to establish an official state religion but if teachers, goverment officals and so on want to practice their own religion while carrying out their offical duties they can do so which forces their captive audiences to partipate. For example a judge could use their own church's cannon as the basis of their rulings that set the rules for everyone.
