and its only getting cheaper

Remeber when Democrats partnered with these companies helping them build the jobs of the future while Republicans cried "Socialism"  and "Gubmit pickin winners and losers"?

Democrats had the right vision for energy, jobs, and the environemnt...while Republicans fought to prop up the Blockbuster video companies in the energy sector.

Sure. Fossil fuels are obsolescing.

That's the reality, no matter how much the obsolescent old fossils in the Republican party try to deny it. And as they slowly croak, one by one, there will be less and less opposition to sustainable energy--because virtually no young people are replacing dead Republicans.

Of course. Fossil fuels are obsolescing. The obsolescent old fossils that make up the Republican party don't want to acknowledge that. But they're slowly dying off--maybe not soon enough for us to save the planet, though.

If wind and solar is so cheap, why has California electricy pricining been jumping so rapidly year after year after year as they add solor and wind power?  That free energy is very expensive.

I know why.  They can't hide the costs that Liberals refuse to count when addressing wind and solar costs.

Its going higher because PG&E has to pay off the multi-billion dollar law suit for burning down half the state 2 years ago....and the electric utility that is currently burning down Orange COunty will have to do the same.

California needs to bury their power lines which costs a fortune....and move to Solar

Meanwhile on Wall Street:

Wall Street spent over $74 million to back Joe Biden's run for president, topping Trump's haul

Back here in NY, it has been raining/drizzling for 14 straight days.  Rain tomorow, snow Friday.  Wind is non-existent.

The percentage of sunny days in NY met area is slightly more than 33%.  The rest of the time it is partly sunny/cloudy/rain.  Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend, which means on a good day the sun will only be out from 7am to 4pm

A wind farm for the Hudson River near Verplanck was cancelled due to community opposition.  Similiar projects have been also cancelled in Cape Cod (where the Kennedys & Kerry live).

In my building as well as many other older apartment buildings that have garages, the entire building would have to be rewired in order to have enough capacity to charge the cars.  The cost would be enormous.  How would one charge their cars that are parked on the street?  Portable chargers would be stolen.

My building looked into solar panels several years ago, but didn't put them in when the manufacturers own engineer said the roof would collapse under the weight.

Here is an interesting article that details the problems in manufacture & the shortage of raw materials.

100% solar/wind is not practical

PJ, not one of these reports includes the cost of the coal fired plant that is required to fire up when the wind stops a blowin' and the sun goes down.  There cost data for solar and wind is all bull shit.  Please explain why California electricty cost are skyrocketing as they add solar and wind power.

All because California is making the utility companies run high tension wires on higher voltages as they move solar power, wind power, and buy conventional power from far distances.  The higher the voltage, the more fires.

I already did.  The power company that burned down California  has to pay a multi-billion dollar lawsuit for damages.    And customers are seeing it in their bills.   You didn't include that in your bullshit numbers.  Those fires were not sparked by solar panels...they were sparked by power lines from fossil fuel plants.

The same "peak" plants you speak of are required at peak times for fossil fuels too.   They always have been.  Nobody said solar and wind will comprsie  100% of the grid.    They said they will replace the primary source.  And they were right.   And people like you were wrong.

State and local govenrment along with corporations and individuals are moving to renewables more quickly than ever and its not because of the pro-environments Trump administration or subsidies.   They're doing it because its cheap.   And thats even with record low oil and gas prices.
