More Magical Electric Cars

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul on Thursday announced she is ordering state regulators to make changes necessary to require all new passenger cars, pickup trucks and SUVs sold in the state to be zero emissions by 2035.

Never mind that

1- the state barely has enough electricity now, with hardly any new plants being built

2- many buildings & homes don't have the ability to charge cars

3- many car trips are less than 30 miles in the NY Met area & can take 2 hours each way.  Longer if the weather is bad.  Will these cars be able to go 4+ hours without being charged

4- All these cars will need to be charged at the same time, creating capacity issues

4- We don't have the parts or the capacity for these parts

5- The state is already in the process of banning natural gas (no new gas hookups)

6- But it will happen by magic

Let's not confuse things with the trurth.

Give me the name of a single car manufacturer that will still be selling combustion engine personal-use vehicles in 2035.     Just one name.

And if you cant - can we agree the NY Governor and the Auto Manufacturers live in the same world thats incredibly different from the batshit alternate universe you're in?

The answer to pj's question is almost all of them unless you plan to buy a Jaguar or Volvo.  They have lip service plans of 2050 or so.  The whole project is based on having enough raw material, parts, electrical capacity & charging availability.  None of it is available in large quantities now.

Huh?  Your link doesnt say anything.    Here's one that outlines every manufacturer's timeline to make magical cars.     And I'll concede - some go beyond 2035.     By 2030 there will be fewer combusiton engine vehicles than EV's and that will continue.

And thats why Democrats passed the infrastructure bill readying our country for this future while Republicans are adamant about the Keystone pipeline to fuel cars that wont exist.

Every auto maker's timeline for EV transition

Bently - 100% by 2030

BMW -  50%  by   2030

GM   - 100%  by  2035

Ford - 100%  by   2035- 2050

Honda  - 50% by 2030  100% by 2040

Hyundai / Kia - 20% by 2025    no official timeline set

Jaguar - 100% by 2030

Mazda - 25% by 2030

Mercedes 100% by 2030

Toyota - 100% by 2050

Volkswagon - 70% by 2030 100% by 2050

Volvo - 100% by 2030

All of them will be.

Tom, you are an idiot for noticing and addressing the facts and the truth.  In a dozen years, Liberals will be telling us that they were correct on this subject, because auto companies promised so.

No Lithium, by Liberal demand!

I know that conservitards are afraid of the future--and they're myopic. So when stupid Tommie-poo acts like someone railing against those foolish gol-durned automobile thangs in 1905, I'm not surprised at all.

That's the issue with the RepubliQ. They want to live in the past. Fossil fuels are obsolescing. They don't want to admit that, because the fossil fuel companies write them those big, juicy checks.

Nevertheless, electric vehicles will soon be dominant, and stupid Tommie-poo will have dried up and blown away. Hail the future, conservitards!

No Lithium, no batteries.  No batteries, not electric cars.

Lib's won't allow Lithium, so Liberals won't allow electric cars.

The irony is amazing, yet the dolts don't see it.

Not one of you Libs, short of possibly PJ, knew how Lithium relates to batteries until I told you about it.

PJ, explain how much Lithium it will take to reach your prediction, and how do we get there?  We can talk about Nickel next.
