NBA TV viewership

Of course you realize, putting a statement like that as one of the possible answers drastically increases the chance that it will be chosen, as opposed to simply asking the question and letting people answer however they want.

I'm not inclined to believe this. I've watched several recent NBA playoff games, and the political content has ranged from a fleeting glimpse of something to absolutely nothing. If politics really bothers viewers, it must be what they get from Fox News etc. rather than what they actually see during the games.

Edit: it was as I thought. Far more Democrats than Republicans said they follow the NBA. One of the ten possible answers offered in the survey was "China." WTF??? "I don't watch the NBA because of China"?????? And...19% of the respondents gave that answer????

Black people advocating for their right to be treated as human beings really sets some people off! And I guess China is still the boogeyman for those people. In protest, I will not eat my fortune cookie next time I dine at Wong's Kitchen.

38% say they are watching less NBA because of politics? That's a coincidence! About 38% of Americans think that Trump has done a GREAT job combatting the virus. About 38% believe that absentee ballots suddenly became crooked in 2020. And so on. So we can easily figure out which cohort the 38% come from, right?

We saw this kind of behavior vs the Dixie Chicks a few years ago, didn't we?

I think that's kind of dumb, but oh well. Even after John Wayne declared himself a white supremacist, I continued to enjoy his acting. Even though Clint Eastwood talked to the chair at that Republican National Convention, I still think of him as one of the greatest film directors ever. Richard Wagner was pro-fascism, but he composed The Ride of the Valkyries, so there's that.

I guess some people tend to feel like they are victims when they are presented with an opposing point of view. I think that's kind of pathetic.

And not by coincidence, those folks have about 38% of the cognitive ability of normal humans.

I agree that horrible human beings can nonetheless produce great works of art, great performances, etc. For instance, I enjoy James Woods' acting, even though he's morphed into an awful Trumper troglodyte. There are many other actors who, I was very disappointed to learn, were Republicans/fascists/Nazis in "real life." But yeah, I still watch their movies. I enjoy Mel Gibson in Braveheart and the Mad Max movies, even though he's an absolute dick.

I guess a lot of people have a dark side, and we don't necessarily see it.

A lot of people have a bright (as in good)  side as well, which is not necessarily seen (nor looked for).

Mister Picture opines: "Richard Wagner was pro-fascism, but he composed The Ride of the Valkyries, so there's that.

Indeed, . . . so there IS that: The Ride of the Valkyries

Or, . . . for those who prefer motion pictures: Apocalypse Now

I prefer its use in the Blues Brothers, as a Ford Pinto full of American Nazis plummets from the sky.
