Ohio train derailment

But it is deja-BP-Oil-spill all over again.

According to FOX News, Pete Buttigieg was driving the train and made it derail.  Its all his fault - not the railroad.

And its also a reminder of the need for better infrastructure including upgraded rail lines that people on the right say is a big waste of money.     Those shovels get into the ground this spring.    And you can bet JD Vance will be at the ribbon cutting ceremony

Of course only a tiny fraction of the infrastructure bill goes to upgrading the actual rail lines for freight carriers.  Most of the railroad investment is for passenger rail and greenness.  Unlike AMTRAK, railroad companies are supposed to pay for their own maintenance and upgrades.  PJ and no one else knows exactly what caused this derailment either.  The current thinking is that it was an overheated wheel bearing on one of the cars and had nothing to do with anything related to rail infrastructure.  No amount of green passenger railroad spending would have prevented that.  I hereby declare PJs post to be misinformation and therefore off-topic!  We'll still need some shovels to shovel out the bullshit he's spreading.  But thanks for playing.

My reply was on topic for the thread.    Yours was not.   But thanks for stopping by

Since I was only only person who brought up the topic of rail being a more risky tranportation method than pipelines for oil, who were you addressing when you typed "Oil was not being transported on the derailed train. But it is deja-BP-Oil-spill all over again."

Union Pacific Railroad hereby declares Charles to be full of shit.

Freight rail operator explains benefits of infrastructure bill on freght rail operators.

  • -The infrastructure bill devotes an average of $5.55 billion per year over five years to infrastructure grant programs. These grants will fund multimodal freight projects that will relieve freight bottlenecks, improve connectivity, and fund industrial development projects that can connect freight rail to new markets and more communities. These projects include public-private partnerships in which railroads will contribute private funding proportionate to the benefits they receive as a result.
  • -The bill creates several programs that fund alternative fuel research and development, and deployment of lower emissions locomotives. This will help railroads in their efforts to address climate change.
  • -Congress created a $3 billion program dedicated to eliminating or improving the safety of grade crossings (where railroad tracks, roadways and/or pedestrian walkways meet). This will help to improve safety and quality of life for the communities in which freight railroads operate.
  • -Funding for the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvement grant program (CRISI) will get $1 billion per year through 2026, up from $362 million in fiscal year 2021. These grants support things like regional and short line track and infrastructure projects such as major track upgrades and bridge replacements.

But lets give Charles credit for one thing.  He confesses it was the operators fault for the derailment.   Not Pete Buttigieg.    Maybe Charles can phone that info into FOX News.

Both of those sentences are true.   So which one are you objecting to?

Where the hell is our Transportation secretary? No where to be found! Anybody know where Biden is? This administration is a fucking joke. They have no idea how to handle this disaster. No doubt innocent people are going to die because of related issues to this. Oh well, it was Trump country.

The $9b mentioned above represents 0.4% of the $1.9t- WOW.  How much of the $9b has been spent yet; the number zero comes to mind.

The problem with Buttieg is that he ignored the issue for almost 2 weeks.  Ignoring the issue is what he usually does (supply chains, airlines to name a few).  But you can't blame him since what expertise does he bring to the job as he was only a mayor of a small town with 60 buses.

Boilerman !   You didnt know who I was referring to with this comment -"But it is deja-BP-Oil-spill all over again. "   I give you the above two posters.

And Tom - thats right - except its 9 billion per year.   And the factyou felt inclined to misstate that amount tells me you dont feel comforatable debating the facts.    And remind me again how much Trump invested in infrastucture?...I mean outside of spedning tax dollars on his own resorts?

Biden's infrastructure money was appropriatted last year and will begin to be spent this year and the next 10.    And here's the best part - all the Republican crybabies who make the same crybaby arguments you do will be at the ribbon cutting ceremonies congratulating themselves for the projects in their districts  they voted against.

Charles, dumb fuck, thinks that what he calls the "green" spending will be to plant trackside flowers or something. Like all conservitards, he's triggered by certain things.

Peckerwood dumb fuck, blames Biden and Buttigleg for the derailment. WHERE WERE THEY?? They should have been standing on the tracks and caught the train!!!

Conservitard are such total idiots.

The old answer a question with a question technique.  Why could that be?
