The real "trust element," and the only one that matters, is the element of the relationship that we've had with Russia ever since they acquired nuclear weapons. Did we trust them? Never. Did they trust us? Never. But both sides trusted that any attacks would be met with swift and devastating retaliation. The only time that trust almost failed was during the reign of Ronny Raygun.
Given Trump's historical behavior with Iran, I think it's far more likely that he, not Iran, will renege in any agreement. Reneging and dishonoring agreements and treaties is what he does, so much so that in the future, to "Trump" an agreement will mean to renege on it
