Old Town Chicago.

Oh, Tom you couldn't be more wrong. Cities are stuck with the funds their state government give them. The state also writes the criminal codes

Mark is wrong.

Cities like NY & chicago have DA's who have said they will not prosecute certain felonies & downgrade them to misdeamoners, if they are charged at all. Minors who commit felonies get sent to family court. They ignore the state laws.    Gascon is reviewing all death sentences.  Another NYC example is the bodega case where the DA charged a man defending himself with 2nd degree murder, while letting the woman who stabbed him go free.  The Bronx DA chose to downgrade the charges & release the felon (who is on lifetime parole) who put an innocent man in the hospital with a coma.  These cases happen daily

There are numerous felons in NYC who have 40+ arrests & are still walking the streets.

I'm done fact-checking tom. It's just safe to assume that he is lying.

You are right.....these cities just need more government funds and they will thrive......

How about the cities get to keep their fair share? In Nevada, Democratic Las Vegas contributes higher per capita taxes, while the Republican rural areas pay less per capita. (And for the stupid here, there are taxes other than the income tax. In the state of Washington, same thing. Seattle supports all the rural Republican areas. And the pattern is repeated all over the country.

And states like Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, etc. get way more in federal funds than they pay in taxes, being supported by Democratic California, New York, Nevada, and so on, who get way less.

For all the time I've seen this sort of thing posted here, I don't think I've ever seen a right-winger with the huevos to respond to it.

Your up, Jerry.

Oh my.  The city of Chicago decided to neuter the police.  All of the sensible people said this policy would create a mess and now we have a mess.  End of story.

Now watch inflation and listen to the Liberl deniers.

Nothing like that actually happened. Do you know what a straw man argument is?

Nope, it was riots, dramatically increased massive group smash and grab crowd robberies, car jackings and additional violence.  Many who live there are moving to the suburbs.

You guys can lie all you like, but it's a mess.  Go BLM!

We know you hate black people. You've been honking that song all your life.

Disgusting.

They need to avoid being bled dry by state legislatures that send their tax payments to coddle all the shitkickers in the surrounding Republican rural areas who need welfare payments, alcohol rehab, and emergency surgeries when they accidentally blow their foot off while playing with their GUNZ.

Urban areas subsidize rural areas. Blue states subsidize red states. Democrats subsidize Republicans. And conservitards bitch about it!

If tax revenues were apportioned fairly, Trump Land would be even more poor, ignorant, and infested with drooling, inbred, bucktooothed shitkickers than it is now. They should fall to their knees and thank God for all them liberals a'payin' their bills for them.

So if they get to keep their fair share of the $/tax monies, they will thrive is your argument?

North Ave has always been shit until you cross the river...and even there its sketchy and there's nothing  new about that.  Remember the movie Candy-Man about the undead killer who wastes everyone who lives in the projects?  That was filmed in the giant  Cabrini-Green section 8 project  just south of North Ave on the river.

Its memorable for the 16 story crack house that was Chicago's experiment with poverty in the 80's

Real estate gets more expensive the closer you get to the lake....and where your friend lives has never been unsafe.    If you are going to point to anecdotal murders, property crime, and assaults - that comes with living in the city anywhere.  And you pretending thats some kind of new phenomena thats happened since BLM went live is fundamentally dishonest.    And if you are going to blame restaurants that shuttered due to COVID on BLM then you are being even more dishinest,    I can point to 20 in my suburan zipcode that suffered the same fate.   Boilerman defines "data" as something he heard someone else say.

The bike path and beach you claimed were too unsafe to visit are anything but.  I can attest to that first hand....and so can a million Google reviewers as I've posted.

In any event - I'm thrilled you made it home alive visting the unvistable place thats too unsafe to visit  =)

And one more thing, PJ, Cabrini-Green was not in Old Town but instead further SW.  PJ tells us about a literally 30 year old movie which showed Cabrini-Green.  Th was another Liberal idea that was a total hell hole.  I've told this very friend of mine and his little brother from the Big Brother's program.  Damari, now 37, lived in Carbrini-Green.  It closed in 1995.  I've been to the place, and the brothers made it known that they didn't like a white men on their turf.

That's the best that PJ can come up with?  A government run slum lord property which isn't even in Old Town, and it was closed 27 years ago.

Oh my.

They're thriving now. Which is the reason why they're able to subsidize the shitkickers.

Yes, there's crime. But contrary to all the conservitard faux outrage and virtue signaling, America's cities are safe places to live. And I'm sure stupid Tommie-poo will say something like "Ooooo, but what about all the 453 billion murders in NYC or the filthy immigrant who was arrested 13,427 times?"

It depends on your definition of "high crime rates," of course. But the fact of the matter is that you're less likely to be the victim of a violent crime in an American city than at any other point in American history, on a decade-for-decade basis. And also despite the conservitard bleats to the contrary, we have well-funded, well-manned, and technologically well-equipped police forces. Can they stop crime completely? Of course not. And even fascism-fantasizing conservitards wouldn't like the measures that would have to be taken to accomplish that.
