On the the deck at my brother's place in Asheville, NC

In a casual encounter, . . . how would the person screaming know your socialist, liberal, snowflake personality within a few minutes ?

Oh my.

I'm fortunate to have a group of friends that I grew up with that are still very tight.  That amounts to about a dozen or so.  There another twenty that I'm still close with, but talk maybe once a year, and see each other twice a year.  We're spread around the country, but most are in the Chicago area.

Then there's my college buddies.  Year 37 Vegas trip in happens this October, with 17 scheduled to attend from about 12 states.

I'm also tight with my three brothers, and we're spread around the country.  Philadelphia, Asheville, Chicago, Indy.  This year our annual golf trip was scheduled for middle June, but that's on hold.  Bummer, but we'll figure it out.  Maybe Fall this year, or two trips next year.

I'm lucky and I enjoy it.

Beautiful pics...and a beautiful family.

I was there last year.    Love the restaurant scene downtown.    I didn't go for the Vanderbuilt tour because it was like $100 or something....so I ended up going to their winery instead (and spent much more than $100 there).

It seems like a great place to retire - the only negative being a far drive to the closest major airport.

Oh, and yes, Boilerman is a very nice fellow in person.   And he can drink me under the table =)

PJ, have you eaten breakfast at Bisquit Head?

Because not a minute goes by, and not two sentences are spoken, before the Trumptard in question starts pontificating about glorious Trump and/or how them goldurned liburruls is ruinin' this country.

Case in point. I asked someone about when steelhead season would begin. He went into a tirade about how them environmental wackos were trying to destroy the fishing industry and he should be able to take as many fish as he wanted, whenever he wanted. When I opined that if that was the policy, there would soon be no steelhead to catch, he sneered and said, "I bet you voted for Hillary!" and stalked away.

I hang around many fishermen.  In fact, yesterday I cocktailed mask free with my friend Bud who just returned from Tennessess after fishing for four days.  Never once has a fisherman told me that unlimited fishing harvests should be allowed.
