The stench of death and failure hangs over the United States suffocating every citizen. We have more than one million COVID-19 cases in the United States. Despite this catastrophic failure of leadership, the conservative government led by let them drink bleach, Trump, wants us to follow them off the cliff again. They claim we should reopen the country even though those countries that have outperformed us by large margins aren't reopening on any scale near ours.

And there have been 50 Million Cases of the Flu this season with 50,000 deaths and 500,000 hospitalizations. Maybe those poor people wouldn't have died if we had just locked things down when Obama was President....why we could have saved millions and millions of people over the last decade. Why don't you care about them? It won't be long and you'll be blaming Trump for herpes.

I want to see as many deaths prevented as possible. Charles' brain-dead comparison of the coronavirus with the flu is Charles-stupid, because we have vaccines for the latter.
Therefore, I would like to see free flu vaccines for all. Some don't get them because they can't afford the cost, and some die as a result. That's easily preventable.
As for the coronavirus, I want to see a minimum number of deaths, and until we have a vaccine, the only way to accomplish that is continued social distancing. The government can alleviate the associated economic pain, if it has the will to do so.

And, I don't have data or a link or anything, but I'm willing to bet that in a large percentage of those flu cases and deaths the persons had opted out of getting a flu shot.

Kevin said that we shouldn't open the economy if it would cause one more corona death. I just assumed that flu deaths were equally important, but your words have confirmed that this is not the case.

Of course I compare this to the flu. They are viruses. They kill people. This one kills old people and those with pre-existing conditions. Those are the people we need to protect and lock down. Not the entire population. Although Mark reports 1,000,000 cases it's likely many many times that amount. Half the people who get it have no symptoms at all. Another 30% are very mild.
Yes we have vaccines for the flu...yet 60,000,000 are infected every year. And didn't Obamacare make vaccines free? I thought your guy fixed our healthcare system years ago! It was 'The Affordable Care Act' after all. Now you're saying people can't even afford a flu shot. Or was that all a lie?
