Kevin should really just stick with spelling. He's lost when it comes to economics, finance, accounting, and basic logic.

Kevin, you need to stick to teaching third grade. You can start by bringing this simpleton up to that level.

That's right, Davee-Boi, You stick up for your boyfriend.
Jerry's ignorance--thinking that teaching elementary school is somehow effortless or inconsequential, and doesn't require any expertise--is asinine but far from uncommon. It's pretty much an American meme to downgrade the importance of teachers, which I think stems from the fact that historically, most grade school teachers have been women--and the misogynist torch that Jerry and his kind carry still burns bright. It's the primary reason why teachers are so poorly paid. It's also why China--a nation and culture that values education--is kicking our butt.
Kevin, stick with spelling.
Starting salary for a NYC teacher is $64k, with a masters $69k. That does not include stipends for lunchroom duty, pre & after school programs, clubs & coaching sports. Included are 14 weeks vacations, unless they teach summer school, work at camps (more stipends), paid medical insurance & a pension. Salaries go up if they complete additional coursework on top of guaranteed raises for each additional year of work.
Salaries plus stipends medical insurance & pension make the compensation value of over $100k
