Just saying the laws will be, as always are, broken. And that the fact that it is an island makes it that much easier to control the gun population.
Yes. But a law that is sometimes broken is still more effective than no law at all. As far as Australia goes, that law is NOT broken very often at all. A twelvefold decrease in homicides is one effect of the law.
One can also increase penalties and/or enforcement if a law is being broken too often. Think: traffic laws.
The fact that Australia is an island makes no real difference. Thousands of planes and ships come to Australia every month.
