That's funny. Have you noticed the geriatric composition of the elected incumbent representatives in the legislative branch?
Seems to be a problem in my opinion.
Heck, throw in the last three 80-year-old presidential idiots as well. The US has a huge political party problem.
Of course I have seen the inherent decrepitness. The system , including the voting process, has landed us there. The money system incentives behind re-election for incumbents has landed us there too. Dark money sources and superpac shenanigans help keep some members in place for lengthy periods / terms. The group of folks we have elected are the only ones that can change it and , sadly, they don't and likely won't alter it because a majority of the long-term guys attain great wealth up there. There's lots of ways to explain that trend, but it doesn't matter. They also get great perks such as greatly discounted complete and excellent medical care (on average about 70+% is paid by the govt.); a cushy pension if they're in office 5 years or more; and access to specialized wellness and medical care in the DC area and more. Of course we all know these elected officials continue to get paid when other federal employees don't during any govt shutdown events which we've seen a lot of in recent years.
They scoff at term limit legislation which would potentially uproot their long-term cushy system. They also receive a hefty cost of living adjustment at periodic intervals. You and I both would probably elect to keep this system intact if we were actually ensconcved in it ourselves because it is self - serving and has a lot of self-interest at it's core.
After having said all that, I wouldn't want to relocate to the Czech Republic ( or anywhere else). There are likely a few Boy and Girl Scouts elected to congress that don't actually buy into that routine system / process ( at least when they initially arrive there).
How do we fix it? Term limits? It'll never happen under the current environment.
