The sensible folks will chuckle

The year Chris Evert retired from professional tennis she teamed up with doubles partner Pam Shriver and played a three-set match against brothers Jeb and Marvin Bush. Yep, that Jeb.

Guess who won.

Sorry, Kevin.

OMG.....thank you Mark, MisterPicture and PJ!  Sincerely.

Kevin, competing and trying out are two different things.

Jerry's proof is "google it." And I didn't think he could get any lamer.

Yep, it is where you read articles.  We can all argue the sources of those articles.  I'm sure that is where you develop many of your beliefs as well.  Maybe TV, friends, etc.

Well, they're white guys raised in a male-dominated culture, so they might sincerely believe that women are weak, fragile little things--as do you.

Trying out leads to competing for those who are successful. You don't see women competing with men because none are even allowed to try out. I mean...DUH.

Uhhhh...two men played two women one time at one particular sport, and they won...therefore, all women are incapable of playing sports with men?

That's Boiler-level logic.

I'm sure that with a minimum of effort, I could use Google to find articles "proving" that the sun is made of cottage cheese, panda bears have nine legs, Antarctica is the capital of Greenland, and water is poisonous.

There's a plethora of nonsensical crap out there on the interblab and other "sources" (some idiot named David Miller scrapes it up every day and tries to get us to sniff it). Therefore, an essential skill is to discern what's factual and what isn't.

One metric I use is that if the speaker/writer has a vested interest in getting people to agree with him, whatever that person "reports" should be taken with a grain of salt. And that vested interest could be political, financial, a need or desire for attention, or a validation of a belief.

For instance, I think that MSNBC is only slightly less crap than Fox News. Both have audiences they pander to. They're both more interested in feeding their respective bases than actual reporting. That's not to say that they don't do any accurate reporting. The point is, if you agree with it and it "sounds good" to you, your bullshit-o-meter should go up.

However, most people react very positively to stuff they like the sound of, and when they do, they toss their bullshit-o-meter in the nearest trash can. Thus the current trend of "I like the sound of that" subbing in for "I wonder if that's accurate."

Kevin, why are there no female major league pitchers?  Once again, Kevin scoffs at the truth because he doesn't like it.  And women are inferior to men in sports.  That's why there are no women playing in men's profesional leagues.

Kevin, please explain why the top women in the WNBA, with it's maxium salary of $225,000, have no interest in playing for an NBA team with a minimum salary of $925,000.  Kevins going to tell us that it's because the old, rich, white guys who own the teams don't want women on their teams.

I already explained why.

You do have it right, though. The rich old white men who own sports teams think, as you do, that women are inferior.

You're a fossil, Boiler. Racist, sexist, and really fucking stupid to boot.

Yep, professionals against amateurs and couldn't win.  Any woman can try out for any professional sport out there.  They just don't because they can't "compete" at them.  End of story - Kevin wrong again.

I guess those old white guys are racist for loading up their NFL and NBA teams with black guys?
