Sexual assault: Republicans and Democrats

A morning news segment on CNN, various people talking about Cuomo's resignation. The host expressed surprise that Cuomo lost support so rapidly. The person being interviewed (don't remember his name) pointed out that Democrats tend to quickly reject people in their party who face sexual misconduct allegations, while Republicans close ranks and defend the accused (if he's a Republican).

I think that guy's right. Compare and contrast: Cuomo is accused of inappropriate touching, Democrats drop-kick him out the door. Brett Kavanaugh turns out to be a rapist, Republicans laugh it off.

And earlier, of course, millions of drooling MAGA morons winked and laughed as the audio tape of Donald Pussy-grabber was discovered. Republicans don't mind having a Rapist-in-Chief.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to point out that on this site almost 16 months ago, I wrote that my fellow Democrat, Andrew Cuomo, "was a prick, is a prick, and will always be a prick..."

Sometimes I get tired of being right all the time.

Being a prick in and of itself doesn't make someone a poor officeholder. Just as being a nice guy doesn't make someone a good one.

(Lyndon Johnson comes to mind as an absolute prick who nonetheless accomplished a lot. And Jimmy Carter as a nice guy whose accomplishments were in the negative.)

My takeaway from all this is that Cuomo stepped down quietly, limiting the collateral damage to his party. It was a smart move. I actually give him some credence when he says that his behavior was based on rules of a prior generation. Let's face it, the things he did weren't all that bad, not when compared to the actions of the Supreme Rapist and the Orange Pussy-grabber.

But I imagine Mother Tucker and his ilk can't shut up about it right now.

Apparantly kevin read the 168 page report as well as tbe several thousand pages of evidence to determine it was just based on prior rules. He is under investigation for his behavior as well as his stuffing infected people into nursing homes that were not equipped to handle. He is also being investigated for the coverup. (Good policy).  His covid rules were inconsistent. For example, you could eat in a restaurant but not sit & drink (as if the virus is able tell the difference).  Restaurants & bars had 10 pm curfews (apparently the virus slept at night).  Some stores were allowed crowds, others were not. Churches were closed.

Then there is his Buffalo Billions scandal. Other bad policy includes the no bail law which has contributed to the crime wave & his runaway budget which has contributed to the state having among the highest taxes.

MP is correct in saying that cuomo is a prick & once he was exposed he found that he had no friends.

The NYS AG wants to be governor & this investigation is a good step for her.  The out of control legislature wanted him out & now has a patsy governor to pass more lunacy. Forcing the resignation had nothing to do with the democrats ethics but revenge & a power grab by the legistaure.

Cuomo could have fired his AG the same way Trump fired James Comey.....and Democrats could just sit back like Tom and call it all fake news and move on.

But None of that happened.   Give Cuomo credit for not being as corrupt as our former president.  I know - low bar.

Democrats hold people accountable for bad behavior including members of their own team.   They dont have alot of apologists like Tom who give a pass to scumbags if they identify with them politically.   And thats a good thing.

And if you read the stuff that has been coming out of the AGs office, Trump and his Republican lackys in Congress tried to get the AG to throw the election for him. Trump should be on trial as should those Republican members of Congress. Even though Trump tried to commit a coup, Tom will gladly vote for him again.

It should please Tommie-poo and his kind that the lieutenant governor is a conservative who was once heartily endorsed by the NRA. And yes, conservative outrage over Cuomo's heinous crimes seems a wee bit hypocritical when one considers that they endorsed and supported one of the worst criminals in American history--twice. And even now, tens of millions of drooling MAGA morons are fantasizing about returning him to power in 2024. Maybe without bothering with an actual election this time.

This is one of the fundamental differences between Democrats and Republicans. When one of their own turns out to be a scumbag, Democrats reject him; when one of their own turns out to be a scumbag, Republicans embrace him. It's the difference between having a moral center and completely lacking one.

Sleepy Joe has is sexual misconduct alligations which were swept under the rug.  And don't get my started on Bill Clinton.

The AG is elected & cannot be fired. By the way comey was the head of the fbi.

She is not a conservative, her views have been changing to reflect the views of the state Democratic Party.

She has no power. She is up for election in a year & the legislature is veto proof. She will sign whatever is put in front of her.

The accusations against Biden were trivial. But we remember, you supported Kavanaugh the Rapist and Trump the Pussy-Grabber. So any outrage you express at Biden's conduct might seem a wee bit...hypocritical.

And you might recall that Clinton was impeached. But right, I shouldn't get you started.
