"The Sink" QoD for 11/13/2022

There's another guy within the Republican leadership clan ( other than Trump) that needs to be fired. He should've been fired years ago for lots of other individual reasons as I see it from a conservative standpoint. That guy is Mitch McConnell. He made funding distribution decisions ( particularly with the Murkowski campaign and other midterm funding decision debacles) that truly very possibly affected the overall outcome.  He made pre-election public statements..public statements, mind you...about the poor quality of some R candidates this round ( no, they weren't all gems, I'm aware, but he could've just kept his mouth shut as leader). He stated that as if he had no prior influence on those candidate selection decisions. Rhino hypocrite needs to go in my view.

That's the end of my fingerpointing for a few days...and I'm happy about that *l*.The people spoke..I'll live with it.

Republicans decided that owning the libs was more important than winning elections.

It turns out that folks really don't care all that much about drag queens and don't give a shit about critical race theory. They know that crime hasn't spiked where they live. And the only answer Republicans seemed to have about inflation was....Hunter Biden.

As a result, I understand that President Biden has ordered several million barrels released from the strategic popcorn reserve. It may not be enough!

Mitch told the truth about the poor quality of the RepubliQ's candidates and what it might lead to--and he was right. Does that make him some kind of apostate in your book?

The guy's a scumbag, but he's smart. When he talks, the RepubliQ would do well to listen. And blaming his funding decisions for when a RepubliQ candidate crashes and burns is disingenuous. Shouldn't the shining nobility of the RepublQ candidate and the manifest righteousness of their cause be enough? When RepubliQ candidates inform us about them Jewish space lasers, baby-eating Democrats, and other existential threats, isn't that enough???

You think you know who McConnell is. I haven't ascribed to his actions or words for years for my own reasons. He's a classic fence -rider and a classic self-protecting politician.  There's not one scintilla of disengenousness in what I said. Again, you don't decide my choices nor opinions. Find someone else's character to disparage.

Of course there were less than stellar R candidates in the midterms..easily evident. No denial there. Were there any on your side? Of course there were.

You and I perpetually disagree, but we get decent grades for consistency at it. *l* Carry on.

Will he send green chile butter with said popcorn? If not, it's just another tax hike.

Charles, what do you think about a lot of elected Republicans saying the only problem is we aren't extream enough. A Ginni Thomas group is trying to put a Freedom caucus guy in as Speaker.

Mark..depends on the specifc issue, or set of issues. What is extreme? We'd have to define that, based on a given issue; those definitions would vary a bunch depending on who might be participating in the debate. One of the Freedom Caucus group's base intents  is to redistribute some power ( eg bill-forwarding for legislation) from the leadership to the rank and file members. There's merit in that  in my view, provided limitations on any real nutjob participation. Now we have to define real nutjobs, I guess. Forcing R legislative bills to the floor for a vote ought to be decided by the entire R body( the original founding intent); it often doesn't appear to work that way in reality. McCarthy has schemed for years to get the position; I have no idea if he will.

Yeah, the House R's are going to cripple themselves further if they involve too much infighting regarding the likely upcoming House Speakership issue. An obvious fact recently proven yet again (midterms) when legislative members / candidates cross some varying 'extreme' boundary line/s.

Whoa whoa whoa, weren't you the guy that always talks about courage and living up to his word?  Why are you back on this forum posting?

Extreme:

Someone who has one more of the following beliefs.

2020 election deniers.

Willing to default on national debt to get cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

Wants nationwide abortion ban.

For banning history books that contain references to one or more of these reconstruction, Jim Crow laws, The civil rights movement, White led massacres of black people, Martin Luther King ect.

Wants to ban any mention of the fact that gay people exist in public schools.

Believes that CRT is taught in public schools.

Has a bizarre obsession with Hunter Biden.

Has a bizarre obsession with drag queens.

Believes that public schools allow kids to use a litter box rather than a bathroom.

Believes Donald Trump should be able to keep the nation's most sensitive intelligence mixed in with his magazine clippings at Mara largo.

That's just for starters.

Since it appears your true intent here is for me to pull down my own pants in public on these issues ( eg my own 'extreme' tendencies)... here goes. Some of the issues I have no studied opinion on and won't state my position without  first delving into the truth about them, rather than depending on ideologically slanted news sources from either side.

- 2020 election deniers : Numerous court case outcomes have disproven this. I don't deny the election  outcome/s.

- Default on debt to get SSA/ Medicare cuts : No,and I have a War and Peace length list of more useful cuts ( for another argument). SSA/Medicare should be left alone ...the people have earned / paid into those benefits..

- Abortion issue should be left up to the states ( per SCOTUS). I'm pro-life, but with exceptions.

- Banning of legitimate and truthful history books and relative truth of Black mistreatment , civil rights movement, and the important contributions of MLK: Banning legitimate and proven history info is futile and wrong.

- Gays and drag queens are citizens, too. They deserve their allotted space. I don't approve of  DQ's parading in front of kids, though; I have some  upbringing tenets in my inherent makeup that gives me some consternation on these issues, but simultaneously I don't have the  power to tell anybody else how to live ( libertarian slant).

- Too much evidence to date to deny Hunter Biden's calamities. I guess we'll know the full ad nauseum extent of those within the next couple years..and which specific laws may or may not have been broken.

- Don't know  the litter box / bathroom issue inference you refer to..by that labeling anyway. If you mean allowing intermixed gender locker rooms / bathrooms, I'm  against it.

- The Trump intel docs issue isn't settled yet..I'll wait on the facts. I haven't researched it. IE What/which docs were legitimately declassified by him..or not. It doesn't seem rational to me to "keep the nation's most sensitive intelligence" intermixed with newspaper clippings. I don't know that that happened or not with certainty.

- I can't / won't/ don't support Trump , as stated in here months ago ( dropped him after the Jan 6 incident..his ensuing behavior, etc.). He negatively influenced the current midterms as well, as I see it.
