The die-hard fiscal conservatives within your above named caucus group are expected to raise hell  by their constituencies..and due to their own campaign platforms. barking is an inherent part of the job for these guys. They have to vote on the actual legislative bill to extend the debt ceiling as yet, obviously. Let's see how they vote before we completely tar and feather them. Then we can subsequently beat up on the Senate members as well.

The political fallout accruing to the RepubliQ from this manufactured crisis was about fifty times that falling on the Democrats...so McCarthy reached out and twisted the Freedumb Caucus's balls.

I guess they figured out that getting their Social Security checks cut by twenty percent wasn't sounding too freedom-y to a lot of Americans.

RepubliQ motherfuckers. From the party that gave you Trump. BLAUGGGGGGH.

It wasnt a complete loss for McCarthy.   The fiscal hawk GOP managed to increase the deficit by defunding the IRS.     Congratulations !    Tax cheats can take a big sigh of relief.

That's probably the single most popular cut among the RepubliQ, as it's viewed as a direct reward to their biggest donors. And of course, the party of fiscal responsibility is against an expenditure that would produce a 500% return.

McCarthy made biden bark.  Remember this - biden says he will not negotiate over the debt ceiling

Biden and his top advisers have repeatedly indicated that they will reject demands from the new GOP majority in the House of Representatives to link increasing the debt ceiling with cutting federal spending. Instead, Biden is insisting that Congress pass a clean debt-ceiling increase, with no conditions attached.

And we have the usual idiotic statements from Lam

Proof?

Next.

This is a good deal for America.  Liberals don't like it.

Proof?  Everyone, Tom is confused and I guarantee proof wont help.  But here it is anyway !

The CBO's measured data

"a $1 increase in spending on the IRS’s enforcement activities results in $5 to $9 of increased revenues."

Understaffed IRS doesnt have enough resources to audit all the tax cheats

"For the wealthiest and most sophisticated tax filers, a cash-strapped IRS has meant a tax evasion free-for-all. Currently, the tax gap, which is the amount in taxes that are owed but not paid, comes to

nearly $7 trillion over a decadeThree fifths of the tax gap is due to underreporting of income by the top 10% of taxpayers, and more than a quarter comes from the top 1%."

Democrats passed legislation to reduce the deficit by collecting legally owed taxes from people cheating on their taxes.   Republicans top priority in holding the national debt hostage was making sure that did not happen.

So Congratulations Tom !   WHen you want to cry about Democrats and the deficit remember that you fully support Republicans adding 7 trillion to our National Debt by turning a blind eye to billionaires who cheat on their taxes.

Have a great full-of-shit  day  !

The total IRS funding increase approved in the earlier Inflation Reduction Act ($80B, more than half of that total destined for increased enforcement funding) will only be reduced by $1.4B in direct funding in the proposed HR 2811 bill ( that hasn't been voted on yet). Additionally, there's an intent in the bill to reallocate an additional $20B of overall IRS spending during 2024 and 2025. So, if this bill passes as written, a total of $21 - $22 B of the original $80B might be lost / redirected. That's a compromise from both sides. There's no indication that very many, if any, of the new 87,000 IRS agents will actually lose their jobs in this proposed bill. McCarthy, in fact, was criticized heavily by many of the more fiscally conservative R's for not demanding deeper cuts in overall IRS funding in this proposed bill. But McCarthy had to acquiesce in order to get the entire bill past the White House. I'm not particularly fond of McCarthy myself, but he's in a position that demands riding a fence occasionally. 'For the people...and the greater good'..rah, rah, etc.

Those who can actually stand to read through this proposed bill (HR 2811, for those who give a shit) may conclude that both Biden and McCarthy barked simultaneously..to eventually attain a compromise in order to avoid default on the US debt. There's a lot of green energy issue recissions / repeals in it, and we can assume that Biden and advisors must have agreed to compromise on those. So, there's a ton of barking by both sides to be witnessed in the next couple days before an actual vote; further incessant barking will ensue to get it through the Senate. Stay tuned for the cartoon barkfest to follow.
