Some things to think about

Yes, because using 5% is what CNN wants all to run with and you are the simpleton running with it the most.  So yes, it does matter.  5% is a long way away from .1-1% isn't it?  Like 5 to 50x more?

I already illustrated to you the simple math. Believe what you want.

Like I said, just try and expand your thinking past the running totals CNN was running before the protests started and they moved onto the next thing to push. I'm just hoping they have the same running numbers for the flu this early winter......postive cases and deaths so you can bunker away then too.

And I've already posted numerous articles showing how many more positives there are out there and just not tallied.  Are all those random sampling tests just bogus?

Would there be any significant change in the way things should be handled if the death rate was as low as you say? The harm done from the virus includes major organ damage. Maybe someone who would have died in the early stages of the pandemic might instead, drag themselves out of the ICU with lifetime severe lung function impairment, kidney damage that will require dialysis, etc. etc. That would not be much better!

I mean, what is the point you're trying to make? Who cares what the EXACT percentage is? That will change day to day no matter what.

You have to be a real "Deep State" conspiracy theorist to say that CNN is "pushing" the numbers rather than just reporting what they've been told. Maybe that's your shtick. In that case, you'll fit right in here.

And just for grins, you might consider, in the course of your meticulous and rigorous research, just how many Covid-19 deaths have been and are being reported as something else. Consider how many Trumper states are deliberately stifling the data. You say the number of cases is being underreported; I say the number of deaths is being underreported as well.

I can actually agree with most of that.  And honestly Kevin I like 99% of what you write.  I just don't like when people are throwing around 1-5%.  I think fear mongering.

The raw numbers we can both agree are bad.  But do you know what the flu kills in a average season?  Again, I work with medical professionals that lean hard left and they talk to me about flu deaths as well.  I'm not going to give you those numbers as you can look them up as well.

BTW, whatever happened to your LVA blog. I actually thought it was one of the best ones they had.  Much better than Bob's.

I decided to drop it because a) I was getting pretty busy at the time and had some pretty serious medical issues to deal with as well, b) I got tired of all the negative comments flooding into my inbox, and c) a lot of that shit was somehow winding up in my personal email, and I was getting tired of having to delete twenty "YEW SUKC!" emails every day.

I think you can only accuse someone of fearmongering when the thing they're talking about isn't actually dangerous. That certainly isn't the case with the coronavirus. In fact, I think that being a little paranoid about it is a good idea.

Flu deaths are a separate issue, and yes, the flu kills a lot of people each year. But we also have 50,000 preventable heart disease deaths each year. 51 people in the US die of lightning strikes annually. 500 people are killed annually in Africa by hippos. One thing at a time.

I can see giving it up if that was happening.  They were what I looked forward to the most though weekly.

Just keep commenting on Bob's at least when he goes into one of his inevitable boasting sessions that he does a few times a month.
