She is absolutely right in that context. She was talking about another black female posting a picture of herself on a subway in DC surrounded by mask wearing and US flag bearing members of the patriot front aka Nazis.

The far right, white nationalists, have co-opted the flag for their own anti-people of color agenda. If I were a person of color, I'd be wary of entering a neighborhood decked out in American flags. As a white guy that spends a lot of time with an African American and her family, those fears are very well founded as I see this kind of shit play out a lot. 

Keep in mind the January Sixers beat police officers with flag poles flying American flags. Once the right quits using the flag as a symbol of racial purity, racial hatred and voter suppression maybe minority Americans will feel more comfortable around it. 

How about the mob that chased a candidate for congress in San Fran?

She is 7% Puerto Rican. It is thought one of her distant relatives on that side of the family may have owned slaves. 

The bottom line Tom is that it doesn't matter how much money you make as a minority in this country a substantial portion of Americans won't treat you as a "Real American".

My trip to Florida with baby was rather enlightening. We stayed at a higher end place as three nights was $1200 plus parking and wristbands.   There were a lot of upper middle class African Americans there in addition to white people. What I found fascinating was the self-segregation.

I noticed when we would go down to the pool it typically wasn't very crowded as we would go early or other odd times. If Baby and I claimed chairs, within a few hours of sitting there we would be surrounded by other interracial couples and African American families.  The purely white folks stayed away from this section which typically became roughly a 3rd of the pool area.

In all honesty it is primarily the white folks that give us dirty looks and talk under their breath when we are out together. I have heard N lover whispered in passing more than once when out with baby over the years. 

But the black folks there were so accepting of us and it felt so welcoming. I felt grateful to be part of the club. 

Nazis are right-wingers. You need to take some remedial history.
