Thanksgiving dinner with someone Covid positive? Here are your chances:

So, given that there is no evidence of Kevin Lewis's statement regarding smaller counties and disenfranchisement, a reasonable person might well conclude that Kevin Lewis made up his claim that small counties were designed to disenfranchise Blacks.

So, given that there is no evidence that Barack Obama was born in Kenya, a reasonable person might well conclude that Donald Trump and all who repeated that assertion just made up the claim.  Repeat 20,000 times over the last four years.  Amazing how Don has selective outrage.

Now, I apologize for hijacking Mister Picture's thread.

You should apologize for the statement you put quotation marks around.  You perpetuate the very stereotype you accuse others of having now.

Candy

Oh, come on, Candy. You're not so dumb as to realize I was making an ironic "quote." And you're wrong--the sentence inside quotes wasn't a "statement." Not by me, anyway.

And though there's no way to prove it, I'm sure that some Southern cracker somewhere said that very thing at some point--verbatim! And I don't mean in 1880--I mean yesterday!

Didn't some Fox News bitch attack Joe Biden for "using the N-word" back in 1993--when he had actually been quoting someone else?

Kevin continues to justify his pejorative writings as "irony."  We continue to argue this point.

Yes, and your point of view is absolute shining-with-pure-light angels-circling-overhead-blowing-silver-trumpets total truthy truth, while mine is obviously, horribly, excruciatingly WRONGGGGG. And Hillary sent emails.

Just so you know--I have no need, nor do I try, to "justify" my opinions to you or anyone else. I may explain them if asked. But I feel no obligation to agree with anyone else or to make them agree with me.

A healthy man who isn't a sissy will take the risk.............for the team.

What a co-incidence!  Neither do I.

Then the only difference between you and me is that I don't feel the need to tell other people what they should be thinking or how they should express those thoughts.

Funny--it's the liberals who are supposedly the ones who erupt in faux outrage whenever somebody says something that could be construed as politically incorrect.

I will continue to depict and yes, criticize Southern bigotry in whatever manner I deem appropriate.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, isn't it annoying when one of your dinner companions makes a claim, refuses to provide proof or a source, and demands that you look it up for yourself?

Yes, isn't it annoying when someone at the dinner table doesn't have a laptop or encyclopedia set handy? No one should talk about anything! Except maybe fluffy white bunnies and the weather. That said...

I had a relative, fortunately dead now, who when pressed for "proof" of some loony-bird conspiracy theory, would cite, with a smug, self-satisfied air, the latest Fox News or Rush Limbaugh broadcast. He was absolutely convinced that Barack Obama was not an American citizen and that liberals wanted to destroy America. Thanksgivings were always that much less fun with him around; I would sit there, listening to him bloviate, and fantasize about choking him to death with a turkey leg.

I wonder how many people are secretly relieved that they aren't going to have a big Thanksgiving get-together.
