There is nothing more delicious than...

...Trump supporter tears.

David Miller is crying in his basement, but will soon emerge and start spewing, calling everyone a liar, accusing the Democrats of rigging the election, etc. etc. In this, he is our whiny little sample of all the sore loser Trumpers who are throwing their pizza at the TV screen.

We do, however, have to keep focused. There are SEVENTY MILLION scumbags who observed Trump's behavior over the last four years and still voted for him. Is this something that can be cured? Can we cleanse our country of these fascist-loving garbage sacks?

I kind of doubt it. The best we can do is marginalize some of them, educate a few of them, and stuff the rest of them into Trump Land and let them elect fascist governors and senators. They'll die like flies from the coronavirus due to rejecting science and health care, and the occasional climate change-fueled disaster will wipe a few thousand off the map here and there. But can we live with them, when all is said and done? Can America coexist with "'MURRICA"?

I don't think so. What do you think? Are we hopelessly divided between good and evil?

So long as there are a sufficient number of citizens who divide the population into "good" and "evil" based upon political preferences, . . . bridging the division will be difficult.

I think that the vast majority of those that voted for Trump are good american citizens. Those that own businesses that prospered with less regulation and taxation. Those that got good jobs in the manufacturing sector that weren't there before Trump. Those republicans that, just like democrats, vote the party ticket. Are there millions of white supremacists? Of course there are. How many of them actually vote? Probably not as many as you think. People demonizing everyone that voted for Trump are as pathetically wrong as those decrying the legitimacy of the vote in certain states. Please end the name calling on both sides.

Make no mistake about it, the Trump presidency was a casualty of covid-19. Had he not failed so miserably with the pandemic, I have no doubt that he would easily have won reelection. Hopefully, with the science finally at the forefront, enough people will adhere to masking up that we can eradicate this pandemic. It will start with responsible mandates and policies from our president.

This country is in trouble from the intractable stance of both the republicans and democrats in congress. If we don't get some common sense compromising in the house and senate, this country will never be able to heal. Something needs to be done about our healthcare system immediately. Our infrastucture needs major repairs to roads, bridges, electric grid, water supply and gas lines. Our country is falling apart due to Washington D.C. gridlock! Climate change needs to be addressed responsibly. Social security and medicare need to be permanently fixed. Immigration needs to be addressed as well. Our border needs to be secured in order to have any meaningful reform.

Instead of fearmongering and name calling, let's get together and, dare I say it, make this country great again.

Hey Don, you want to talk about our differences re marginal tax rates, welfare benefits for farmers and for poor people, immigration law, tariffs vs. free trade, foreign military interventions, and so on? Cool, let's try on bridging our divisions. Bridge away!

But if you're going to say that white supremacists are fine people, that people should be barred from this country because of their religious beliefs, that our presidential election was stolen without providing evidence, that you deny basic science, that you share beliefs with QAnon, or that you support a president who won't commit to a lawful transfer of power, you are a garbage American and a garbage human being. No interest in "bridging" here.

By the way, Don, which one are you?

MisterPicture addresses poor old DonDiego:

" . . . if you're going to say that white supremacists are fine people, that people should be barred from this country because of their religious beliefs, that our presidential election was stolen without providing evidence, that you deny basic science, that you share beliefs with QAnon, or that you support a president who won't commit to a lawful transfer of power, you are a garbage American and a garbage human being. Well, . . . OK then.

i. White Supremacist: "a person who believes that the white race is inherently superior to other races and that white people should have control over people of other races."

Poor old DonDiego doesn't spend a lot of time judging people, recognizes individuals of all races and mixes-of-races have talents and deficiencies.  And the overall environment would be improved if all such talents were applied for good purposes, and regardless of race.

Poor old DonDiego has not called for barring individuals from entering the USA because of "religious beliefs", as DonDiego understands the term.

n.b. Certain religions, nowadays for example some sects of Islam, have developed beliefs in superiority of their beliefs sufficiently to justify conquest of the world by peaceful or violent means.  It is not "anti-religion" to examine the religious beliefs of those seeking entrance to the USA who may be suspect of harboring such bad intentions.

DonDiego would rather remain a fellow who was raised Episcopalian, but has long since come to the conclusion that given the existence of so many religions and sects within those religions it is unlikely any of them is the correct one.

Individuals can be decent while professing belief in a specific religion.

Individuals can be decent without professing a specific religion or even religion itself.

DonDiego believes he is among the latter.

Poor old DonDiego has not suggested that a Presidential Election has been stolen.  He has occasionally been on the "losing side"; never been a big deal.  Isn't a big deal now.  Life goes on.

Poor old DonDiego embraces science. PERIOD. He took every science/math course his high school offered.  He obtained a Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering.

n.b. Poor old DonDiego actually took a course entitled "The Calculus of Imaginary Numbers" during his senior undergraduate year;  today he has no idea what that even means.

And later, after serving time in the military [there was a draft back then], DonDiego earned a more practical Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering.

Poor old DonDiego's employment career comprised contributing to development of weapons systems for the Department of Defense.

Poor old DonDiego's interest in science was such that he managed to be present on Cape Canaveral north of the Vertical Assembly Building for the launch of Apollo 11; on Cape Canaveral at the Vertical Assembly Building for the launch of Apollo 14; and across the Indian River for the launch of Apollo 17 - it was a night launch - beautiful !

Poor old DonDiego had to look up "QAnon" to see what it is.  It sounds like nonsense.

Whether Mr. Picture classifies poor old DonDiego as garbage or not is unlikely to affect poor old DonDiego.  He won't notice unless Mr. Picture posts his momentous decision on this matter within this Forum.  And DonDiego won't care one way of another.

Whether MisterPicture chooses to "bridge" with poor old DonDiego or chooses not to do so, poor old DonDiego supposes he will not notice one way or the other either, . . . if "bridge" means what poor old DonDiego supposes it means.

DonDiego doesn't understand how conditional clauses work. Of course, I said "IF" he believed those things. Glad to know he doesn't.

But for the substantial number of Trump supporters who do believe those things, there is no "bridging" possible, no reaching out, no meeting halfway. As I said, they are garbage Americans and they should be flushed from public discourse.

A tale of two parties:

-Obama offered Republicans 50/50 representaion on the health care committee despite having a super majority in both hosues of Congress

-Hillary Clinton's campaign slogan was "Better Together" in the spirit of working with the other side.

-Joe Biden's campaign centers around the same message.

-John Boehner infamously said on 60 minutes  he despises the word "Compromise".

-In 2012 All  Republican primary candidates famously rejected the idea of compromising with Democrats even if the ratio of the compromise favored them 10:1

- Donald Trump was specifically chosen over Jeb Bush and John Kaisch to be the Republican candidate because of his devisive and caustic rhetoric.

In SUmmary, Democrats have shown they are open to working with the other side.    That concepts doesn't infuraitate the Democrat base like it does with Republicans.

The only hope is that several blue/purple state Republican Senators are up for reelection in 2022.   That might entice them to at least pretend they are open to working together.   We shall see . I'm hoping the Georgia runoff works out well for Democrats

Ooh, good example of back pedaling.

MisterPicture inspired me to review the meaning of conditional clauses, i.e. if x, then y.

"If it rains the wedding will take place inside."

That sneaky "if" served MisterPicture well in his non-apology apology.

MisterPicture:  you might take notice that DonDiego is, oh, so humble and rarely speaks of himself; and, that his arguments are, oh, so crisp and concise.
