He's stating the obvious. But there's a hidden false equivalence argument in what he's saying. He presumes that everyone is equally to blame for all the recent division and hatred. The reality is that 71 million Americans worship a truly awful man. The reality is that the Republican party has no interest in compromise and thinks only of power and maintaining that power.
If you want a stark illustration, compare what Biden has recently said with what Trump has spewed. Then consider how many Republicans in Congress are supporting Trump in saying that the election was "stolen." Biden wants unity. Trump and his slaves want the division that the letter-writer correctly decries.
I think both sides want the division. The far left and the cancel culture and calling anybody that likes Trump stupid along with the MSM promoting racial injustice and saying it's all Trumps fault is just as bad as Trumps people calling the left communist and cheaters and non-American. Both sides get defensive when called names like most people do and it turns into a who can insult the other group more.

Kevin calls Trump a racist. He also tells me that I'm racist.......even though my best friend is a black neighbor who is a black as the night Tanzanian. Kevin actually believes that a white guy can be a racist, all the while his best friend is a black guy.
Give me more, Kevin. Your arguments suck.

Anyone can be a racist, and having a Black "best friend" (which I very much doubt is anything but a lie, but let's say it's true) doesn't issue you a magical exemption. You support a racist President, and you've said dozens of racist things on this forum alone. So your friend isn't a Get Out of Jail Free card.
I know what kind of person you are from what you say, the things you believe in, and the people you support. And that ain't good.

Once again, while there is bitterness on both sides, only the Republicans have shown that they are willing to abandon all morality and decency, ignore the rule of law, and subvert and destroy our country's institutions.
As I've said before, it's a false equivalence argument to paint this as just one side versus the other. That's like one person saying "gang rape and pedophilia are wrong" and another saying, "no, they're perfectly OK" and treating each person's side as having equal validity.

PJ from this site met my magical friend at my pub about a decade ago while PJ and I enjoyed cocktails.
By the way, telling the truth, however painful the truth may be, is not racist. I can have a conversation with my black friend and discuss racial facts, but with you that makes me racist.
You're a nut.

Learn to read.
I didn't say that having a Black friend does or does not make you racist. I said that having a Black friend does not make you not racist--even though you keep claiming that it does. I go by what you've said and the people you support.
In case you're genuinely too thick to understand the distinction, I know quite a few people who have female friends but are nonetheless sexist/misogynist. I know a couple of people who have Mexican friends but are nonetheless rabidly anti-Hispanic. I know someone who works for and gets along with a gay boss but is nonetheless anti-gay.
Get it? Of course you don't.
So we should all try to be more civil and kind and understanding and thoughtful toward each other. And we should refrain from insults and criticism. Did I sum up that letter correctly? So try this as an experiment:
Here is the Twitter feed of the leader of the Democratic Party: https://twitter.com/JoeBiden
And here is the Twitter feed of the leader of the Republican party: https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump
So which one is more civil? Kind? Understanding? Thoughtful? And which one spews insults and hate? No one who wants "both sides" to behave better should pretend that there aren't massive differences between the basic decency that differentiate these two leaders. And their voters.
Of course. Both sides are far from equally at fault for the partisan division. I would place 80% of the blame squarely at the feet of the Republicans.
Of course, that's why the letter was published in the LVRJ--it's an alt-right propaganda rag owned by Sheldon Assholeson. You should see some of the recurring columnists' spew. Among those are a self-proclaimed neo-Nazi and some clown who says that Trump is "the greatest President who ever lived."
I really wish Biden would get away from the kum-by-ya message and realize that he's going to up against a foe that doesn't yield, doesn't compromise---and will do ANYTHING, no matter how unethical, to stay in power. He should stretch the powers of the Presidency to the absolute limit to try to undo the Trump damage. Unfortunately, barring a miracle in Georgia, that's as far as he'll be able to get.
