This man has it right!

I didn't say that having a Black friend does or does not make you racist. I said that having a Black friend does not make you not racist--even though you keep claiming that it does. I go by what you've said and the people you support.

In case you're genuinely too thick to understand the distinction, I know quite a few people who have female friends but are nonetheless sexist/misogynist. I know a couple of people who have Mexican friends but are nonetheless rabidly anti-Hispanic. I know someone who works for and gets along with a gay boss but is nonetheless anti-gay.

Get it? Of course you don't.

Now I understand now!  It's stating the facts and the truth about people that make me racist, and that I support a president who via policy, not words, has helped blacks more than any president ever.  If this makes me racist, then I'm in!  Of course, everyone knows that Kevin's silly about this subject………even the left leaning folks on this site.

Let me ask you Kevin, is my black friend racist because he will openly say that most American blacks don't take enough advantage of our educational system?  Is he racist for recognizing that blacks commit a higher percentage of crime than others?  Is he racist for looking sideways at the guy with his pants half way down his ass, suspecting that the guy is no good (that's a statistical thing that I'll explain to you later)?  You have claimed in the past that saying these things make me racist.

The pandering Liberal (black and white), with his intentional hiding the truth and his demands that we chastise those who speak the truth, is the single because reason for the collapse of the black community.

Guys, I'll answer one of my own questions ahead of Kevin's spewing of hatred.  Kevin believes that my black friend is a racist.  He told us all so about four months ago when I mentioned that my friend agreed with me regarding blacks not taking advantage of the educational opportunities in America.  Kevin's response was that my "friend's a racist, just like you."

So there you have it.  A black man is not allowed to discuss the truth in Kevin's world.  No man is allowed to discuss the truth in Kevin's world.

I agree, you don't understand that your friend's comment was racist. Why was it? Because it was an unjustified negative generalization based on race.

Oops, I just used way too many big words for Boiler!

So,

1.  Who or what determines the "unjustified" part of a negative generalization?

2.  Would this be that similar to an unjustified negative generalization (my emphasis) about a person, e.g. Boilerman's friend or anyone's friend, based on that person(s)

     a. being of one or the other political leaning,

     b. being of liberal or conservative leaning (upper or lower case),

     c. residing in a "red" or "blue" state,

     d. residing in [pick your state, county, zip code, government],

     e. having opinions different from those of [the one doing the generalizing],

     f. the imagined above conditions or otherwise personal qualities (integrity, kindness, tolerance, etc.) of persons or populations despite the one doing the generalizing never having met or enganged in any way with those persons or populations?

There was a time when poor old DonDiego attempted to be fashionable  "by wearing his pants half way down his ass".

Inevitably his pants ended up around his ankles.  Poor old DonDiego simply doesn't know how others can be fashionable and he cannot.

The specific generalization I referred to was Boilerman's (supposed, probably imaginary) Black friend opining that Black people don't take advantage of the educational opportunities in America. Obviously, this is wrong, because it's a blanket generalization--and as such, is unjustified. Furthermore, it's factually incorrect, just as it would be to say that all Black people love rap music.

What Boilerman doesn't understand is that a generalization based on race is a racist statement.

What you list, Candy, are generalizations that have nothing to do with race. Not all generalizations are incorrect, if they do indeed describe a characteristic that is typical of the group being generalized about. For instance, "Republicans love Trump." Now, not all do. But it's safe to say that most do. Similarly, "Most Arkansas residents are conservatives."

And as far as your veiled (thinly) criticism is concerned---well, I've traveled the length and breadth of this country, and talked to quite a few people, and I know what I've typically heard and seen. Sure, for example, there are some white boys in the South who aren't gun-toting, mouth-breathing, drooling, pickup truck-driving, bigoted Trumper idiots. And to generalize that they are all that way is unfair to the five or six people who are not. Nonetheless, such a generalization is apt.

So to answer your first question, all generalizations are unjustified to some extent, and that extent determines how unjustified they are. "All jockeys are short" is a pretty safe generalization, whereas "All liberals want to defund the police" or "All liberals want to implement socialism" (quotes, paraphrased, from The Boiler Handbook of Society") are not.

Let me get this straight.  Stating that blacks are more likely to get Sickle Cell disease is racist?  So we should not put extra energy into addressing this situation.

Kevin, you are the problem.

I think it is safe to say that not much of anything is 100%.   But to assert that only "five or six" people living in a southern state are not "gun-toting, mouth-breathing [?], drooling..." Lil' Abner characters is so ridiculous I can't even express it.  If you actually believe this, then nothing you say can be believed.  Or maybe you are just mean-spirited 'in general.'

You are right, my generalizations, by design, did not specify race.  Because any discussion here in Kitchen Sink that even hints at anything having to do with race provides you with a bully pulpit and there you go without considering anyone else's side, or even their right to have a side, about anything.

Hey, slight digression, ever see the movie "Major League"?  Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger.  Baseball comedy, a favorite of mine.  There is a scene when pitcher Rick Vaughn (Charlie Sheen) throws a wild one, gets verbally insulted by the opposing players.  Vaughn starts giving it back big time and isn't stopping.  The manager tells the assistant manager "I think it is time to go get Vaughn."  The assistant goes out on the field, tosses the screaming protesting Vaughn over his shoulder to take him off the field.   This is actually my vision of what will have to happen on the day Joe Biden is sworn in, or the day Trump has to be removed from the White House, over some guys' shoulders.  It will take some big guys, but I can see it happening just that that.  So, there.  I can be much more broad minded than you think I am!

The most likely and correct scenario would be for Biden to be handcuffed and taken away to spend the rest of his treasonous life in prison.

Nope. Stupid and irrelevant comparison. "Blacks not taking advantage of educational opportunities" is pejorative and false. "Blacks are more likely to contract sickle cell anemia" is not pejorative, nor it is false.

You are obtuse---Lord, how obtuse---but you can't convince me that you're so obtuse that you can't see this distinction.
