Trip report

Flights all good both ways on Southwest.  Three of us arrive at 7am on Saturday, and Ubered to the Golden Gate on Fremont.  We hoped, but didn't expect to be able to check into one of our 7 rooms..............but the most important was the penthouse suite.  None were available.

Robert at the Golden Gate did a great job of calling me as rooms became available.  It should be noted that I just sent a nice note to hotel management about how great Robert was............he's black.  The only notable point is that that so many Libs call me racist for being against illegal immigration, and when out point out other truths.  Robert did a great job.

Day one for me was a bender, losing $400 on blackjack early and closing that loss to $200 at night's end.  We watched Purdue get crushed by Wisonsin (a $44 loser for me), which was a bummer, but we recovered.  Day two for me, but not for others, was alcohol free.  I was crushed from night one.

Day three was again a serous bender.  I eliminated my losses and was up for the trip by $400 at one point, but ended up down $200 at trips end.  Having a Penthouse suite, we spend little money on food and drink.  The room was stocked with Italian sausages, brats, and dogs, so we don't eat out much.  I believe that the only food that I ate outside of the suite was 4 breakfasts, and our Carson Kitchen dinner.

We did have an outstanding dinner AGAIN at Carson Kitchen.  Every time the food and service is great.  Two drinks a guy, I'm guessing, and lots and lots of small plates for $55 after tax and tip.  Love this place.

Cool. Now post in the ''Trip Reports''.

Boiler logic: if your casino host isn't white, that proves you're not a racist.

Oooooookay...

I don't have a casino host.

Sounds like a fun time!  I'm headed out on 11/5

Have fun, Jerry.  Where are you staying?

We will be there 11/15

Not a bad time of year to be there, but lordy lordy lordy, prices are still sky-high. Of course, since the lemmings are flooding into town regardless, who can blame them for gouging? "Ha ha ha, they'll NEVER pay THAT much!" "Just wait and see."

Like Kevin, I don't understand how some folks afford the new Vegas prices.  Unlike Kevin, I don't hate those who can.  Unlike Kevin, I don't blaim or hate any business charging any price that they like, as I always have the option to walk away.  It is not the job of any company to offer a product that I can afford.  It's their job to maximize profits for the owners of the company.

But...their pricing strategies will ultimately drive customers away, which will destroy profits. The unusual conditions of the last couple of years have given them carte blanche to gouge, but they won't persist. Vegas will have to offer affordable options. The trouble is, the people who have come here and been wallet-raped and poorly served will remember, and they'll never be back.

I'm reminded of a Vegas casino owner's statement that you could shear the sheep over and over, but you can only slaughter them once.

Oh, and I do indeed have contempt for the dodos who come to Vegas and pay these insane prices, then they go home and bitch about inflation.
