What annonymous source told you the story was false?
There is so much reworking of videos, say taking something 2011 and inserting a different subject's photo in it, (extreme photoshopping), that NOTHING can be believed anymore. Not to mention written pieces that are found to be blatently false. Good or bad reflections on your favorite polititian, something he/she supposedly said, it makes fools of everybody.
Apparently there is money to be made by being the "first" with a slanderous photo or story submitted to publications or TV news pieces that so much of what should be fact checking is weak or non-existent.
Not that anybody cares, but I will no longer give credence to anything copied/posted in this forum, period.

Well, this story is true. Several news organizations have verified it with their own sources and despite what Molly and Tom think Fox News also confirmed this and even added some new details. On two of their Sunday shows today, they confirmed it again. The divergence at Fox is between their hard news staff and opinion hosts. Opinion hosts don't abide by journalistic standards. Hard news people do.
Anybody that has a basic knowledge of common video and photo editing tools can determine what is fake and what is not. Most fakes that make it to the mainstream news are quickly spotted and debunked. The big exception is Facebook. That place is a cesspool. Because of how their algorithms work typically only people predisposed to believe the fakes will see them leaving most of them undebunked unless they make the leap to some other medium.
It is how people like David develop the beliefs they have. They only see things on FB they are pre-disposed to believe and the Facebook algorithm shows them progressively more extreme things trying to provoke a reaction (increased engagement) from them. A few years of depending on FB as a news source radicalizes a lot of people. That is how you end up with these Q people and people that think Antifa is coming to invade their small towns in repurposed school buses.
Yes, there has always been nuts, but prior to social media, they couldn't really spread their nuttiness around and they remained on the fringe. Facebook connects these nuts through their algorithms as it identifies them as having the same type of beliefs which in turn curates a large echo chamber that allows extremists to grow their numbers. In the past the nuts had a difficult time organizing as in any given community there were only so many nuts and they had to spread their radical beliefs in person. A lot of them were reluctant to spread their beliefs because they knew their beliefs wouldn't be well received in the communities they live in.
