Trump Refused To Let White House Issue A Statement Honoring McCain

Trump reportedly told his aides that he preferred to tweet his condolence, and tweeted out a pared-down statement in which he did not offer praise of the Arizona Republican.

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, chief of staff John Kelly and other White House aides advocated for a detailed official statement that referred to McCain as a "hero" and gave him accolades for his military service, the Post reported. Aides wrote the statement and Sanders edited it over the weekend.

As if you needed more proof our president is a petty immature jerk.  Trump also lacked the maturity to deal with all the praise McCain was getting from other people, so he went on a Tweet rampage extolling what he perceives as his own virtues.

Unforntautly, most officeholders in the Republican party debase themselves on a daily basis in a sick attempt to gain Twitler's favor.

Oh, a Republican Senate Candidate to replace Jeff Flake publicly bemoaned McCain for using his death to steal the thunder from her bus tour.  And Fox News had to turn off their comments on their McCain stories because their viewers wouldn't quit slandering him upon news of his death.

'Tis sad what the Republican party has become.

This is, indeed, unfortunate.

But, . . . wait a minute, . . . wait a minute, . . .

Whew !  President Trump is still not Hillary, . . . so still a net positive.

No big deal.  The real insult will be in a few weeks when a football player takes a knee to protest police brutality.

The Fox News crowd will shrug off Trump's insult to a Vietnam war vet and cheer his race war against NFL athletes....and then cry about the race card when you point it out.

Mcain did not invite President Trump to his funeral, so why should he do anything special

The flag of the United States of America is to be flown at half-staff at all federal buildings, grounds and naval vessels in the Washington, D.C., area on the day and day after the death of a United States senator, representative, territorial delegate, or the resident commissioner from the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

That is the flag code. The flag is back at half staff, after many people who hate Trump as much as McCain did complained about it.

"The real insult will be in a few weeks when a football player takes a knee to protest police brutality."

PJ continues to peddle the liberal myth of police brutality, even though the facts don't back it up.

The probability of a police officer being killed is higher than the probability of an innocent black being killed by a police officer.

The probability of a black being shot by another black is higher than an innocent black being shot by a police officer (see Chicago).

The problem with the NFL is that they are protesting a myth & ignoring reality

So disrespect for the national anthem is OK as a protest and "mature".

McCain continued to criticize Trump "from the grave" with his final letter and Trump was mature enough not to criticize McCain - who turned over one version of the false and unproven "pee dossier" over to the FBI.

As Trump, I respect and thank Senator McCain for his service to his country under extreme adversity, yet many of those who called VietNam vets "baby killers" upon their return from the war are now fawning all over McCain.  I wonder if Jane Fonda will have kind words for Senator McCain.

As the pro-fascists said about Mussolini, “at least he made the trains run on time.”  Similar moral and intellectual bankruptcy.

The President has certain obligations and duties.  One of those is setting a good example and being above the fray when a sitting Senator that has a long history of service passes away. This is supposed to be true even if the person that passes away was a member of the opposing party.  Even though McCain was a lifelong Republican, he didn't get that courtesy. Trump made sure the final and last official act of the government towards McCain was a middle finger.
