Trump tariffs and world trade

It's time to ignore that guy. I mean, completely ignor him, because all that he does is a complete failure. I would love to see how the U.S. plans to get out of the Iran desaster before it costs the next trillion dollars in debt for your next generations.

I usually find your postings enjoyable and informative - but this one is way off base.Stating "because all that he does is a complete failure." is a load of crap. The Iran conflict is necessary to prevent Iran from possessing and using atomic bombs - if you can not fathom that, I don't kow how much clearer it can be stated. The cleaning up of the border mess the brain dead Biden and cackling hyena Harris and the DemocRAT party inflicted on America continues to this day. Deporting the illegal alien criminals has been a focal point by DemocRATs for decades - now that President Trump is doing so is cause for the lying media and the corrupt DemocRATs to wail and cry over the removal of said criminals. The imposed tariffs have informed the world that America will no longer tolerate unfair trade and the tariffs have brought some 19 Trillion in future foreign investments from foreign nations to America that will create jobs and level the playing field for consumers. The tax cuts - no taxes for social security recipients, on tips and on overtime have brought thousands of dollars into Americas tax payers pockets. Crime in major cities is way down, with only the so called "sanctuary" cities located in DemocRAT controlled cities and states still having ever esculating crime. The exposure of massive fraud in Minnesota, California and many other DemocRAT controlled states and cities is being exposed - which will save Americans millions if not trillions of tax dollars as the fraud is terminated. How anyone can state that what has transpired in 1 and 1/2 years is " a complete failure" does not know what they are talking about.

can you name the clinic where you have been brain washed?

Tarrifs of that kind and insulting the rest of the world and at the same time becoming upset when the EU zone says google will have to pay penalty fees for monopolizing is somewhat raising questions in my head. The funniest thing is that your supreme court will most likely have to cut it off again after the next mess with all the countries is perfect. You're a funny guy, David.

o , this is just an add-on bonus: Since tarriffs are so good and everything should be produced and manufactored in the U.S., what about the super smart phone that was promoted first as "made in USA" but later on was not so much USA made any longer and all over sudden the story turned into cold coffee? I'm sure you have a plausible explanation for that too....

You favored us with daily Bleat About Biden posts, where you blamed him for everything that happened that you didn't like, including earthquakes and the price of kiwi fruit.

You used your refreshingly bizarre Tom-logic, supported with wackadoodle Tom-stats, to "bolster" your statements, always in bolded italics, because as everyone knows, that makes it all true.

In short, stupid Tom, you've enthusiastically supported the Trump shit show, even though you had to shame and embarrass yourself to do it. Are you finally getting cold feet? Buyer's remorse? Growing a spine? Growing a brain?

I mean, don't get me wrong. If you've decided to start making sense, I'll be the first to applaud.

haha !!!! loved to read this one. If I could I would read it in slow motion , along with a pack of crackers and a beer.

I know I try to stay out of this nonsense but when foreigners (not the band) try to show their wisdom on American economics I have to step in with stats otherwise known as facts

Kevin hates my stats but he also hates the truth

Swiss economics

Swiss annual Growth Context 2025 annual growth: 1.27% at constant prices Statista Statista .

Long-term trend: Average GDP growth over 1980–2026 was 0.44%, with peaks in 2020–2021 and troughs in 2020–2022 TRADING ECONOMICS TRADING ECONOMICS .

Forecasts: Trading Economics projects 2027 growth around 0.30% and 2028 around 0.50% TRADING ECONOMICS TRADING ECONOMICS .

Maybe boris should worry about his own country's economy

If one really engages in an honest evaluation of the net economic impact ( be it short or long term) of these tariffs, one would have to conclude that they are a net negative to date. Maybe one of the best bottom-line metrics is that the overall estimated mean dollar impact for  American families has ranged between $600 -1500 per year per family depending on the source utilized. Though the overall net economic negatives and the relative associated metrics are nowhere near what some so-called expert economists predicted when these tariffs were initiated( we were all going to vapor lock and die!). It has still created more cloudy uncertainty during a time when we're also involved in the Iranian conflict. Those two collective factors ultimately exert a massive pressure on the average consumer and businesses at classic pay points ( hikes and or maintains costs ultimately).

Of course there are longer term promises of prosperity due to these tariffs; they're hard to see and until a given  check clears nobody benefits. We'll see.

Little stupid Tommy, GDP growth isn't necessarily an indicator of economic success or power. A mature economy will only grow in proportion to population growth. Switzerland has nowhere to expand (no place to add settlement or territory) and has close to zero population growth. Those things aren't true for the United States, so any comparison is silly.

Switzerland is as prosperous as the United States, on a per capita basis. Maybe that's because they don't get mixed up in stupid foreign wars, or they don't elect pathological narcissistic thieves to high office. Or they don't have fascistic little Tommy MAGAs babbling away on message boards.

Your Tom-stats convenienly ignore the Swiss GDP PER CAPITA. Guess how much that is?

$92,000.

Guess how much the US GDP PER CAPITA is?

$94,430.

Now, guess how much per capita the Swiss spend on health care, which is universal there?

$9,963.

How much does the US spend, per capita?

$15,474--and it's far from universal.

How much per capita does Switzerland spend on national defense?

$849.

How much does the US spend?

$2,932.

Where do the two countries stand on the Standard of Living Ranking (UN Human Development)?

Switzerland, 5th; US, 16th.

So maybe stupid Tommy should stop babbling.

It's pretty damn basic that trade increases wealth for all parties involved. Therefore, any policy that restricts trade--which is the entire purpose of tariffs, and the ultimate effect--reduces wealth. I mean,....duh! But Trump doesn't fathom that. Good Lord, he's stupid.

Tariffs have NEVER (never, never, never) increased prosperity for any nation imposing them. And anyone who didn't sleep through history class knows that the Smoot-Hawley tariffs of 1930 worsened and prolonged the Great Depression.

Didya know that Trump is invoking a clause from the Smoot-Hawley Act to justify his latest round of Turdiffs?

It's amazing how few people understand the Law of Comparative Advantage, which means that we absolutely should not try to produce/manufacture every single thing we consume. Instead, we should produce what we do best, and trade for the rest. But MAGA/the Turd fanatically believe in isolationism and protectionism, which have NEVER worked. Ever.

Nines, not to mention Doge laying off the people responsible for keeping track of screwworms and preventing them from spreading. That's had a real impact on beef prices.

Now we have the trumparrhea parasite infecting the lettuce supply. Yes, it's Trump's parasite because most of the folks responsible for investigating this type of food borne parasite were shit canned by DOGE.  They don't have enough manpower left to even determine where it is coming from.

On the upside, I was in Walmart yesterday and every type, size and brand of lettuce was marked way down. They were practically giving the shit away or more accurately they were giving the shits away. There didn't appear to be very many takers as the shelves were full and nobody was taking any.

I recall during the early days of the Trump administration, when the conservatives here weren't afraid to still make an appearance, almost all of them saying something like what's the big deal if Trump breaks the law because it doesn't count if we save those trillions of dollars like Elon and Trump promised.

How did all of that work out for you? There would be some delicious irony if one of you passed away sitting on the pot shitting your guts out.

Correction: US is 8th on the most recent UN Quality of Life ranking. Still below Switzerland.

Mark, it's a certainty that thousands of MAGAs have died as a direct result of the Turd's actions, in one way or another. The trouble is, so have thousands of good people. What we need is a virus or other pathogen that kills only the people who voted for Trump. It's at least theoretically possible, since their brains are fundamentally different.

The myriad ways in which Elon, Big Balls, and DOGE grievously hurt this country are becoming apparent. Right now, we don't have enough people to handle all the wildfires that have broken out. That's because staffing was cut by 20%.

You VOTED for all this, MAGA assholes!
