United States employee participation rate

The population has been aging. The proportion of retired people has been rising. That's why. It has absolutely nothing to do with employment rates.

That's so obvious, I didn't bother to point it out at first, but you needed schooling, once again.

Are you saying that unemployment rates are where they are today versus 20 months ago are because of the aging that has happened the past 20 months? How can you be so stupid?  The only "obvious " thing about your post is that you are still full of shit and lying.

Nope. Learn to read. The labor participation rate is simply a measure of adult retired vs. adult working population. The population is indeed older than it was, on average, than it was 20 months ago.

It has nothing to do with unemployment rates, which refer to those who are seeking work, as in...drum roll...NOT retired.

Pretty basic stuff, but neither you, Tom, or Boiler seem to get it.

Kevin, you should really look at the data before you make such stupid comments.  Come on, do a little homework.

Alright moron, here is the definition of labor participation rate ( which says NOTHING about adult retired) -The labor force participation rate is the proportion of the working-age population that is either working or actively looking for work. 1 This rate is an important labor market measure because it represents the relative amount of labor resources available for the production of goods and services.

People who weren't looking for a job didnt find one.   And in related news people who weren't looking for Waldo did not find him either.

Thank you for bringing our attention to that mind blowing statistic.

That's exactly what I said, stupid. Does this definition mention unemployment?

Kevin, you told us that America is older than it was three years ago.  Would you care to tell us how much older, and would you care to tell us why 2.3% fewer Americans are working than just a few years ago.

Unemployment is decreasing, while fewer people are working and GNP and productivity is decreasing.

Please explain this.

5 million people is the differnce between Baby Boomers and Gen X.

And there is also  the Great Resignation.  Anyone who has been awake for the last three years knows about it.

But you still havent explained why your bullshit statistic is a problem.  Anyone who wants to work right now can and is....hence the record low unemployment number.   You're complaining that people not looking for work arent getting jobs.    And you're alot more upset about than they are,.
