But my main point is govt agency = crap service, with everything.

That's a very broad generalization, and like most such statements, is incorrect.

The government does many, many things, some of them very well, some of them adequately, some of them poorly. Obviously, there will never be a time when everyone is pleased with everything. Plus, the exact same performance by a government agency could be viewed by one person as "great" and another person as "terrible."

While I don't want to debate specifics, I just want to name three government institutions that work remarkably well, especially given their often sharply limited resources: the US Postal Service, the FDA, and the State Department. I'm sure that there are people with major beefs about all three, but they all do an excellent job.

The post office loses a billion dollars a year & is losing market share to Amazon, Fedex & the UPS.  It refuses any reforms to improve their service.  Companies are reporting 2 to 3 weeks to have their 100Rs delivered.

The FDA has done real well with their conflicting info on the pandemic.

The State Dept - one word - Afghanistan

In spite of LA rules, NFL rules & giving out masks to people as they entered the stadium people were not wearing masks at the Super Bowl, including NFL commish goodell.

tom, three very simple questions even you can answer:

1. How many billions of dollars does our military lose every year?

2. FDA has "conflicting information" on the pandemic. Do you mean "changing information" based on changing knowledge and circumstances?

On average, how many American servicemen died in Afghanistan prior to Trump's signing the surrender agreement, and how many have died since Biden extracted us from Afghanistan.

Looking forward to your answers!!

I love all the right wingers who rip on the post office.       You want to make the post office profitable over night - let them deny service to rural areas like Fed Ex and UPS do.

Its not profitable to delver a package to Old McDonald who lives 30 miles outside of Beatrice, Nebraska.    The Post Office is by law required to deliver to him anyway because ....its the law...and the Post Office is meant to be a public service, not a profitable business.

By contrast,   Fed Ex and UPS will either outsource their deliveries to Old McDonald via the Post OFfice...or they will require that he go to the nearest town and pick up his package.

And you know what the funny thing is ?  Lots of Old McDonalds bitch about the Post Office with the same ignorant talking points Tom does...when in fact they are the reason it loses money.   It would be better if they just said "Thank You" for spendnig other peoples' money on them

Tommie-poo is really, really stupid--but he's also fucking IGNORANT. He actually doesn't know that the USPS isn't supposed to be a profit-making institution??

Tommie-poo is such a simpleminded buffoon, he confuses the FDA with the CDC. And he considers considers changing conclusions to reflect new data "conflicting."

He evidently thinks the world consists of the US and one other country.

This is why I loathe things like Tommie-poo. Aside from his politics--which are revolting--he's a simplistic, shallow thinker who jumps to conclusions and will lap up anything he's fed if it smells good to him.

More lying, condescending, insulting rhetoric from the resident liar Lewis.

Davey Dear, you contribute so much! We'll all miss you when you croak. Won't be long--angry old men tend to die at alarming rates.

  And you contribute so little....

Oooh, sparkling, witty, trenchant comeback! Truly, your wit and eloquence are unequaled.

Next thing we know, you'll stop calling everyone a liar!
