What do you miss the most?

I was just thinking about all the things I would normally be doing for fun:

Bridge games: Nope.

Contra dances: Nope.

See a play: Not happening.

See a sporting event: Not happening, either.

Go to a concert: Definitely not happening.

Movies: Not really. Only a few new movies coming out, and very few seats.

Go out to eat: Indoor dining is allowed now, but I frankly don't feel comfortable doing it. It will soon be too cold for outdoor patio dining.

Go to the library: Libraries are open, but with sharply reduced hours--and I didn't realize how hard it is to read with a mask on if you're wearing glasses! They fog up over and over.

Walk in the park: Still can do that, thank God---but the weather won't be cooperative for long.

Stay home and bang your head repeatedly against the wall: Still available.

I don't know which of these activities I miss the most. Do you have any one particular activity you can't do any more and the lack of which is driving you crazy? Have you crafted any substitutes (however unsatisfactory) for that activity?

TV is my friend, always has been.  Phones still work to call and hear from friends.

We are hermits when it comes to entertainment, prefer the close ups on TV.

The pandemic is an automatic excuse to avoid going somewhere or doing something out of obligation pre-pandemic.

Movies:  husband falls asleep during the opening credits, expensive nap, and we rarely went anyway.  Much better on TV, particularly when you can pause it, go to the loo, get snacks, cheaper popcorn, etc.  Or back it up when "what did that guy say?"  Same for sports, weren't big to go in person, better on TV, the close ups, the instant replays.

Eating out: didn't do it that often anyway.  Always been able to carry out our favorites, eat in our jammies or otherwise when ready.

Bottom line, we've always been easy to entertain ourselves.  No drastic change since covid, really.

Honestly can't think of anything that is tearing me up.

Oops:  Just remembered two favorite restaurants that have closed for good.  Can't believe it, they were always busy.  1) PF Chang--I mourn the loss of their chicken lettuce wraps, combo fried rice, and crispy green beans with that super yummy sauce.  2) Copelands, a cajun themed place with a soup I still crave, corn crab chowder.  Lesson:  if you have a gift card to some place, don't put it off.   $75 'left on the table' at Copelands on a gift card that went unused.

PF Chang's is dead dead, or just the one near you? They have (had?) some really yummy Americanized Chinese goodies.

We've lost a few restaurants here and there, with no real discernible pattern--some of the ones that died, I felt sure would survive. What we don't know is how many are hanging by a thread and won't survive much longer if the Republiholes don't stop blocking the relief bill. I suspect quite a few.

This Trumper town where I live relies a LOT on small businesses, and under the most rosy scenarios, it's estimated that 25% of them are or will be gone for good by the end of the year. How do you replace that? You really can't. The Senate Republicans are so worried (all of a sudden) about "fiscal responsibility." But it will cost MUCH more in the long run if they don't help small businesses (as opposed to their huge wealthy donors) stay afloat.

Most of my fun activities are social (and I pretty much loathe TV), so my style is cramped a bit more than if I was a homebody. Having lost two friends dampens any enthusiasm I might have for social gatherings, though.

I believe there is still a PF Chang in Vegas.  It was for years at Planet Hollywood, and we ate there once.  Years ago.  I'm pretty sure I fairly recently read they moved somewhere down (south) Strip, not connected with a casino hotel.  Whether it is open, will open, or never to open again I don't know.  Will research it when we are close to going.  Damn I love those crispy green beans and the sauce!

The Live events:   rock concerts, travelng broadway shows, pro/college sports, festivals.

The whole reason you live close to a big city is to enjoy those kinds of activities...   Otherwise you might as well live in a small town.

BTW, PF Chang appears to still be operational, as far as the company itself goes.

I miss attending church and seeing our friends there.  Live streaming is not the same.  I miss Concerts, car races and Buffets.  I'm still going to casinos though.

I miss going to casinos, because although there are many within easy reach, I'm not willing to tolerate the risk to myself and others that would result.

PF Changs was open at Sahara and Rampart.   We stoped eating at the one at Planet Holleywood whe we couldn't use our points

I miss Kissing Marla when I flop something good,  Sometimes you need a little luck on the draw.  The plexiglaas helps with the smoke and germs, but it cuts down on the fun factor
