What happens when Republicans run things

Here's an obvious prediciton and a silver lining to this incident:

Texas officials will quickly move to support a Federal Infrastructure bill that includes updating their state's third world power grid.    This will happen because (A) they need it  and (B) they sure as hell do not want to raise  state and local taxes to pay for it.

So once again the Ayn Rand caucus will put their hands out for other peoples' money while complaining about AOC and Socialism.

I wouldn't worry flying Ted Cruz has this under control. He just had to stop by Cancun for frozen margaritas first.

I'm sure that his constituents, freezing in the dark, will be happy that he's fled to the land of sunshine and tequila. (Really, what a brain-dead thing to do--terrible optics!)

Perhaps four or five people in the great state of Texas will come to realize that the Republicans don't give two shits about them---just the fossil fuel bribe money that lines their pockets.

Well if Pete is happy, that's all that matters.

No, that's not the situation at all.  When I con firm that Pete isn't paying $1000 electricity bills as Kevin claims then that proves my point.  We will find out that there where a few mistakes on bills and Kevins point was.............well, frankly pointless, disingenuous, and wrong.

By that logic, ships shouldn't be equipped with lifeboats, because they hardly ever sink. You shouldn't keep a first aid kit in your car, because how often are you going to need it? Why learn CPR---how likely is it that someone will have a heart attack right in front of you?

Also, Boiler must not know where Texas is, because his statement that it only gets below freezing and/or snows there once every 20 years is, um, what's the right word....breathtakingly ignorant.

Kevin, I was born in Tyler Texas.

Kevin, you prove again that you don't understand the risk reward.  When a boat sinks, most people on the 200 passenger boat die.  Lifeboats are cheap.  When it gets cold in Texas, a handful die who would have died within months anyway.  It makes no sense to spend $5 billion to extend the lives of five sickly people for a month.

Well, Texas officials should be happy, because they opened their legs for the fossil fuel industry and achieved "energy independence." So they are now independently freezing. There's a certain delicious irony there.

The weather that Texas is experiencing is a direct consequence of climate change, which creates stronger and more widespread polar vortices--a phenomenon that used to be confined to Canada and occasionally, areas directly bordering Canada. However, Republican dogma rejects the reality of climate change, so in Texas, they've done virtually nothing to mitigate its effects. Reality is now biting them on the butt.

My buddy Pete's house got down to 45 degrees at one point, and he easily survived.  Should Texas have spent $5 billions to preserve his comfort?  I think not.

What did Texas's southern neighbors do right that Texas did wrong in your opinion, Boilerman?

They are to the south where it's warmer.  I checked the nearest Mexican town on the gulf coast SE of Houston.  Matamoros is on the bourder with the US.  They hit a low of 26 degrees during this stretch, and they were below freezing for hours, not days.  Houston was below freezing for several days and hit 9 degrees, I believe.

Any additional questions?

Maybe we should rephrase. What did all the other southern states that also suffered snowstorms and freezing cold do right that Texas did wrong? (BIG hint: Politicians being something other than whores for the fossil fuel industry.)
