What happens when Republicans run things

Kevin, I was born in Tyler Texas.

Then it's pretty amazing that you don't know where Texas is!

What orifice did you pull "$5 billions" out of?

Just for grins, the economic damage suffered by Texas from the cold weather due to Republican incompetence and slavish servitude to the irresponsible fossil fuel industry is certain to vastly exceed $5 billion.

Here is a reality check on Kevin's willingness to spend money that was earned by others.  My buddy Pete has a couple of nice houses.  His interior home temp dropped to 45 degrees, and was between 45-49 degrees for 72 hours.  I asked him if he's going to buy a larger generator to power his furnaces, and he said "No.  I've lived here since 1984 and I've never needed a generator to powor my furnice until now".

Spending billions of dollars to assure that Texans don't have one power outage over the next 20 years is stupid.

Only someone utterly ignorant of Texas's recent history, as well as of the ramifications of climate change, would say that the recent freeze in Texas won't happen again for twenty years.

But sticking your head in the sand helps Texas's fossil fuel industry, so yay you. I guess.

Was Pete one of the people who got raped with a 10K electric bill?

Damn, that hurts !

Disgusting story. It's what happens when Republicans run a state with their for-profit philosophies. Oregon wouldn't allow an electrical utility to increase someone's bill by 5000%, which is one of the many reasons I'm glad I live here. What kind of morally reprehensible shitbag conservative government lets that happen?

And its not just inidividuals getting fleeced.    Utility providers that get electricity from the ERCOT grid are getting nailed too.

Texas Electric company files for bankruptcy after multi-billion dollar bill from ERCOT

Seems like everyone but the unregulated grid provider is getting screwed....and Texas leaders want your tax federal dollars to pay them off.

The usual suspects had no comment when the California grid went down because the soalr/wind plants had to be shut down due to the fires.

According to The Hill the worst run cities are NY, LA, Chicago, DC, San Fran, Oakland, Philly & Portland.  All run by democrats

Yes, Tom. Believe any "news" source that tells you what you want to hear.

The event that you describe--"the California grid went down"--never happened, except in your own confused little mind.

Isn't that the essence of glorious unregulated capitalism? Survival of the fittest, as in, the company that's most willing to screw over everyone else!

And yes, Texas is now on its knees, begging that no-good gol-durn FEDURRUL GUBMINT for billions in bailout money. Fans of Texas will be happy to know that their tax dollars are going to clean up the state's mess.

I've always supported the expulsion of Texas from the US, ever since they made it crystal-clear that they don't want to play by anything but their own rules. So, fine. Let 'em twist in the wind and freeze in the dark. FREEDUMB!
