So who was president in 2020?

What does the President, in the middle of covid in 2020, have to do with the fact that Walgreens lost more money in 2021? Who was "acting" President in 2021?

Um, because according to the links, the trend that began in 2020 continued through 2021.

So here, I'll go first. The president in 2021 was Joe Biden. And in 2020 it was.....?

Stupid Tommie-poo,  theft is something that retail stores, if run properly, factor into their pricing as an expense. It's not a reason why a store closes. At worst, they would have to either hire security, figure out some way to curtail theft (like RFD chips inside merchandise, or simply raise prices. The theft excuse is a pretext.

The acting President in 2021 was Kamala Harris, during a few days when President Joe Biden was ill.

Herschel, you should know that.

We have never had stores being looted like they are today.  Stores are telling security guards not to interfere. RFID chips are useless as nobody bothers to interfere or pursue the thieves. Why should stores remain open?

NYC's 30 Gristedes and D’Agostino stores have seen a 30% spike in shoplifting year to date compared with the same period last year, according to president Joe Parisi. He blames the increase on the fact that thieves are not typically prosecuted or arrested for stealing less than $1,000 worth of goods. “If they know they aren’t going to jail or they are getting out quickly,” Parisi said, “what stops them from stealing?”

Stupid Tommie-poo, the lack of prosecution of petty thefts is nothing new. It's a decades-old situation. Every store with products on the shelves and easy entry and exit has to allow for it.

I'm sure you don't understand that smart retailers assess the cost of theft and either hire more security or raise prices to compensate. It's an expense, like everything else. So supposed high rates of theft are being used as a pretext for store closures, when the reality is those stores are being run poorly.

Stupid Tommie-poo.

.

tom helpfully provided links proving that shoplifting spiked in 2020 under Trump and in 2021 under Biden.

Thank you, tom.

Children! Cool it with the name-calling. Seriously, no more "stupid" this or that. And if someone tries to get cute with a response skirting this directive, it's a two-second maneuver to pull the plug on your access.
