Fat Democrats believe it's genetic. Fat Republicans believe it's lifestyle.
As usual, the Republicans are correct. The DemocRats make excuses.
Why are people alcoholics? Why is Rush Limbagh a drug addict? Why are people gambling addicts? Why is Trump a narcissist? Why do people think COVID-19 is a hoax? Why do people think ingesting bleach or fish tank cleaner will cure them? Why do skinny people have heart attacks? Why do people need joint replacements? Why do people need eyeglasses?
Mark ALWAYS has a tough time staying on subject - I am sure he would say it is genetic...
Most obese states in America.
Regardless of who they blame - the Whole Foods snowflakes in California seem to do a better job of watching their weight than the Paula Dean buffet crowd in Alabama.
With all of the high taxes, home costs, home and apartment rental costs, high rate of unemployment, illegal alien financial support, high gasoline prices - I am surprised Californians can afford to buy food to eat.
What's with North Dakota? Maybe they need the insulation. It is cold up there.
On Addiction:
"NIH-funded scientists are working to learn more about the biology of addiction. They’ve shown that addiction is a long-lasting and complex brain disease, and that current treatments can help people control their addictions. But even for those who’ve successfully quit, there’s always a risk of the addiction returning, which is called relapse.
The biological basis of addiction helps to explain why people need much more than good intentions or willpower to break their addictions.
'A common misperception is that addiction is a choice or moral problem, and all you have to do is stop. But nothing could be further from the truth,” says Dr. George Koob, director of NIH’s National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. “The brain actually changes with addiction, and it takes a good deal of work to get it back to its normal state. The more drugs or alcohol you’ve taken, the more disruptive it is to the brain.' "

Poor old DonDiego supposes for some folks it is genetics and for some folks it is lifestyle choices and for lots of folks it may be some influence of both.
For the record poor old DonDiego is 6 ft. tall and weighs 222 lbs, with just a slight overlap of his belt.
It's not a political issue, despite the OP's moronic efforts to make it one, trying to prove some idiotic and false point.
Lifestyle matters. Genetic predisposition matters. The availability of nutritious food matters. Socioeconomic status matters. The obesity of one's immediate family matters.
None of that has anything to do with political affiliation.
Long winters, lack of opportunity for exercise, and high-carb and high-starch diets.
They're all Republicans up there, but despite Boilermans's idiotic premise, pulled out of the ass of the internet, politics has nothing to do with it.
