Will you take the Coronavirus Vaccine when it's first available or wait or never?

There's a counter argument surrounding the efficacy of the flu shot....and its side effects.    And unlike COVID it does not incubate for 10 days - it usually hits you like a ton of bricks.

I can only recall having the flu once in my adult life.    Never had a shot.

Well gee, there's a counter-argument as to whether smoking causes cancer.

But look who's making the arguments, okay? Your position is anti-science, and it kills people.

Given that the vaccine won't be available to us ordinary shlubs until it's been thoroughly tested, I will definitely get it as soon as it's available.

The only thing that would make me suspicious is if it came out right before the election; then, I'd do a little research to see if Trump pressured the drug manufacturers to bypass safety and scientific protocols in order to produce something that he could crow about and say that "he" had come up with a solution.

Otherwise, I'd think that it would be my civic duty to get vaccinated, for the same reasons that have applied before in other, similar situations. And of course, it would be the personally wise thing to do as well. So combining those two strong incentives, for me, it'll be a no-brainer.

It's gonna miraculously disappear, remember?

Oh, right, and it's a Democratic hoax. Or a bioweapon brought to the evil lords of Wuhan by malevolent aliens from the planet Frabulon. I forget which. Gotta keep up with my Fox News.

Come to think of it, wouldn't "The Evil Lords of Wuhan" make for a great animated Disney movie? Grand Nasty Chung Fong Wang Bwahaha could be voiced by Vin Diesel.

Actually, if we stop testing, it will be gone.

That's the *president's new policy.

Well pardon me all over the place.     And bullpucky !

Keeping your immune system functioning at a high level with good diet and exercise fights the flu better than any flu-shot which on a given year has 50% or less efficacy..and some otherwise healthy people it just makes them sick.    Thats  science.

And  I have 30 years of flu free health  that bears  it out.

And as long as you're the only person in your community, good job!

But the lower the percentage of vaccinated people in a given area, the more babies will die. And more people who cannot be immunized will die. And some of the 50% that the vaccine doesn't work for will die.

But don't let that keep you up at night.

I'm sure a lot of people will use the same argument with themselves as an excuse not to get vaccinated. After all, they haven't ever died before, right?

If it wasn't for the fact that if you contract the virus, you'll infect dozens of others before it runs its course with you, I'd say fine, it's your funeral. But your own personal health isn't the only reason to keep yourself free of the virus, and not having contracted the flu in the past does NOT by any stretch of the imagination mean that you're immune to the coronavirus.

Besides, it'll be free and take, what? Ten minutes of your time?

I wish we didn't have this widespread cultist anti-vaccination mentality.

Being "anti-flu shot" is not synonymous with being "anti-vax".     Thats a pretty hyperbolic  jump to put people who dont get the flu shot in the same bucket as people who dont get the small pox vaccine.   And The former group is more than  half the populatuon - so mic-drop right there.

If you consult 10 different doctors you will get 10 different opinions about the efficacy of the flu-shot, who should absolutely get it, who should strongly  consider getting it, and who the shot stands just as good a chance of making sick as prventing it.     Generally seniors, toddlers, and those with compromised immune systems  are the primary beneficiaries.   Most everyone else need not apply - especially if you take good care of yourself.

Ten different doctors, huh? I bet you haven't asked one. But there is overwhelming scientific consensus that widespread flu vaccinations create a herd immunity that reduces deaths and other horrible consequences in communities. But if you're just thinking ONLY about yourself, well then you just keep being you.

For the record, I did not accuse you of being anti vax. Just really selfish.
