Yet another reason to ditch fossil fuels

An unstable asshole dictator starts a war, and the world treats him with kid gloves and is afraid of making him angry because he's sitting on top of a huge puddle of oil and the world is still addicted to it. This song seems very familiar.

If Europe had weaned itself off the fossil fuel tit, they wouldn't feel forced to keep financing Putin's war machine. And American oil oligarchs wouldn't be using a 3% restriction in supply (potential, not even actual yet) as an excuse to double the prices of their products.

Of course, all the economic and ecological benefits of such weaning still apply. But even if people don't care about that, they should care about having to kowtow to a bully.

I, for one, will not ever kowtow to Lewis.

Yeah, we should all stop our pipelines!

Afterall, it has worked out so well for us today.

I will agree that ditching fossil fuels is a good idea, but not now.  Kevin, where are you going to get the lithium for the batteries.  You see, Kevin is about telling us what's wrong, but he has no solutions.

The lithium, nickel and other shit must be mined.  I thought Libs are against this.

We are no where near being about to make a switch, and it won't happen in ten years to any great extent. The rest of the world will be far far behind us.

Yes, Davey Dear, because you're a Trumpy manly man. Except maybe for the cross-dressing thing.

We haven't even tried to wean ourselves off of fossil fuels. The existence or absence of pipelines has very little to do with it.

So it's asinine to claim that something we haven't actually tried hasn't worked.

What you thought about those mythical "Libs" was wrong, as you've been so often in the past. Being against mining that causes environmental damage isn't the same thing as being against mining. The truth is that EVERY extractive industry in the US can operate while causing much less environmental damage than it does now. That includes the mining industry.

Where are we going to get lithium? We'll mine it where we can, and trade for it as well. Lithium is a mineral, and minerals come from the ground. Mining is when you dig stuff out of the ground. I thought you were a heavy industry expert. Why don't you know where minerals come from?

As with pretty much everything else in glorious capitalist America, we'll switch to sustainable energy as and when it becomes the cheaper alternative. That's happening already. That's not what I was talking about, though. We have a very strong political motive to do that as well. We've had half a century of dictators beating us over the head with their oil supplies. Isn't it time we ended that once and for all?

Lewis you really are one dumb son of a bitch. The switch to substainable energy is not like flipping a light switch. The asshole-in-chief whose balls you lick has fucked America and Americans with his brain dead socialistic policies - look around and you see the effects everywhere. How much are you paying for gas? How much are you paying for utilities? How much more are you paying for food, goods and services? That asshole Biden, when asked about shutting down the Keystone pipeline and the oil that was to be delivered said that those who complain should buy electric automobiles and those who lost their jobs can get jobs making solar panels. Not everyone has $50,000 to buy electric automobiles, even if there were enough available to be bought. There are not in place the number of electric charging stations needed to service these electric vehicles. Just how many trucks are there that are electric powered that would be needed to ship goods - and at what cost to buy these trucks?  And just what kind of equipment is used to do mining? There are no electric heavy duty mining trucks and equipment being built and available to do the mining - and what will these imaginary vehicles cost? What about shipping? How many ships are there that run on electric power?  Apparently ships will now be expected to run on wind power, generated by sails as they navigate the seas. Look around at all of the household products that are made from petroleum, all plastic items, containers, garbage bags, pens, computers, etc. Are they expected to be made from electric or wind power? The United States has done more to lower greenhouse gases than all of the other countries who America will be dependant upon for oil - and all of these countries pollute more than America did and currently does. Venezuela, OPEC, even Russia will benefit from the esculating prices they charge America for oil - and none of these countries give a damn about America and the effects that their gas and oil production will do to the environment. You ask where can we get lithium- well, you dumb bastard, 97% of the lithium mined in the world is refined in China. Can you guess what lithium will cost in the future? There currently is only ONE mine in America mining lithium, with Chile and Australia being the largest mining nations. Don't give me any of you shit about solar power - how much electricity is produced at night or when the weather obstructs sunlight? Wind power, same thing, when the wind does not blow, how much power is generated? Do you know how solar panels are made? The fuel used to make solar panels is coal, with 11 TONS of coal used to make ONE panel. Just what will the wind power blades be made of - wood?  Surely not from fibreglass, which is produced from oil and gas. What will be used to lubricate the wind generators, bearings, transmissions, ect.? So take your know-nothing-at-all stupidity and shove it. You are as ignorant as all of the lying liberal socialistic assholes who are currently screwing America. Don't believe me? Take a look around, for it will only get worse until the rest of the brainwashed morons in America get tired of this liberal shit and vote these bastards out of office.

David, I'm fully aware of your Trump-love, and how that makes you a loyal servant of Putin, and how therefore you oppose reducing the world's dependence on Russian oil. Don't worry, I get it.

The way we obtain materials we can't produce domestically is something called "trade." Maybe you've heard of it.

Your thinking is childishly simplistic. Of COURSE the transition to sustainable energy will have to be gradual. But that's not a reason not to speed up that transition.

And yes, obviously, the wind doesn't always blow and the sun doesn't always shine. But those two things happen often enough to supply most of our energy needs. And have you heard of those things called batteries?

It's moronic of you to bleat the standard politicized nonsense about how them liberals is ruinin' AMERIKA. Powering the United States' energy and transportation grid isn't a political issue, or at least it wouldn't be if the obsolescing fossil fuel companies stopped trying to buy pet Republicans.

Unlike you, I'm not going to call you a dumb son of a bitch just because you disagree with me. Doing so would be, well, stupid, because you're not dumb. Your thinking is twisted and distorted because of your ideology, and you're a certifiably nasty cocksucker. But that doesn't mean you can't understand these issues, even as you bleat the standardized (unscientific) conservitard objections.
