The United States government is not in charge of our economy's supply chain.   The ports, the ships, the rails, the trucks,  the planes and the logistics companies are all run by the private sector.    And you could only imagine the amount of pants shitting that would occur if the government took over those industries.

Maternity leave is not vacation.  Paternity leave????  Yeah, I'd call it vacation like Tom is but this comes from a guy that thinks inservice teacher days are real work days.....sigh

A guy who thinks that time spent in a workplace doing work...the work for which he was hired...and being paid for it...isn't "real" work. Sigh, indeed.

Look, dude, I know you denigrate my work and my profession just to be a jerkass. I doubt that you're actually so much of a drooling cretin as to think that teachers don't perform valuable work. It's better than collecting coins from vending machines, as you do ("financial expert").

Paternity leave is a concept that acknowledges reality: that a child's father, just like the child's mother, needs to devote a great deal of time and effort to the care of his newborn child. This radical concept is hard, I know, for conservatives to understand. A gay male couple who have adopted two newborns (Buttigieg and his partner) definitely have their hands full and deserve paternity leave as much as anyone does.

By conservative philosophy, they should both have to abandon their children and go to work every day because neither is the children's biological mother.

Of course, Tommie the Commie et al. are only getting ginned up about this because Mother Tucker Carlson told them to. It was his nightly outrage segment, and Jesus, was he an asshole about it. Tommie the Commie perked up his ears at this dog whistle and scampered over to the Sink to bark about it--on cue, on command, being a faithful Tucker doggie.

I should add that as a federal employee, Buttigieg is entitled to twelve weeks of paternity leave. So the conservitard faux outrage machine has no valid reason to spew.

True, just another federal employee maxing out their extraordinary benefit plans is nothing new.  I stand corrected.

Uhhh...when would an employee, federal or otherwise, "max out" their paternity benefits?

Could it be...when they become a parent?

Or maybe...that guy just MAXED OUT his medical benefits--the bum! His only excuse was that he developed terminal cancer. Parasite!

And BTW, paternity benefits aren't "extraordinary" any more--society has evolved. Heck, sick leave used to be extraordinary; paid overtime used to be extraordinary; even rudimentary workplace safety measures used to be extraordinary. And of course, every one of those and similar benefits to workers were decried and derided by the fat cat bosses; conservatives, who by definition hate change, told us in stentorian tones that the result would be the destruction of America's economy.

Of course, all the faux outrage about Buttigieg's paternity leave is political theater rather than genuine complaint. There's also a nice soupcon of homophobia thrown in as a bonus.
