I've just usually seen hard working people take a week paternity time or so. You know, something reasonable and not milking it. (Kind of like unemployment)

And one week isn't nearly enough to care for a newborn child. More advanced nations realize that. But we have Republicans, who continually bleat--just like you--that worker benefits just encourage people to be lazy bums, and that everyone who takes advantage of their benefits is "milking" them. Because standard conservitard philosophy is that businesses are noble, working people are scum, and the sole purpose of government is to maximize shareholder value.
I'm sure those hard-working people you observed would have taken considerably longer parental leave had it been available. And not because they're shiftless bums--because caring for a newborn is in itself a full-time job. For BOTH parents.
Yep, just like people won't sit on U/C instead of getting a job that pays more than U/C.
How would you know on a new born?
Go live in one of those advanced nations then Kev.
The Maritime Adminsitration is part of the DOT which vacation Pete is runs. So yes, vacation pete is responsible. He is also responsible for the trucking & freight industry. All of these components are part of the problem of the backlogs & shortages. So rather than going on vacation for 2 months, he should be at his desk working on solving the problem.
If one is going to be the executive of a large operation like the DOT, then he can't be disappearing for 2 months to change diapers, particularly when one just started a job that one has no experience in. If changing diapers is that important, then resign.
If this was such a good idea, why wasn't it announced?
Thank god we didn't have any shortages under Trump in 2020!!!!
Tommie the Commie appears to believe that the US government is responsible for all private industry.
How SOOOOCIALIST of him! Who knew??

I prefer to fix the one I live in. The total eradication of Republicans would do the trick.
I might not even have to do anything but watch. Millions of them have embraced Covid, with predictable, Darwinian consequences, and their Orange Master just ordered them to not vote. So maybe it's only a matter of time and self-selection before we become more advanced.

And you will definitely help "fix" it in your lofty position as part-time study hall supervisor that you've chosen for your supreme intellect. (again, seems very odd choice) And again, you didn't answer me on how you would know anything about parenting. Is it because you are single, have never had any kids and live in your mom's basement by chance? Such a ringing a endorsement there for a complete loser. Sorry, someone had to say it.
Don't be sorry - you are just verbalizing what everyone knows...
